Title: Offset and Spacer Measurement Tool
Post by: 01Lambiero on November 24, 2013, 01:26:19 PM
I came up with a way to measure the size offset required for our cars.  Go to this website: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp (http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp) and enter the size wheel and tire that you want to run on your build front and rear with the offset (common is 45 or 32 as a lot of wheels are designed for front wheel drive cars).  Click the "Print Screen" button on your keypad.  Open up Windows Paint program.  Click on the "Edit" menu and click "Paste".  Center the picture to show only the two tires and Save the picture to your hard drive.  You now can paste the bitmap picture into your cad/cam program (I use TurboCad 14.  Economical software) and adjust it to actual size.  Print each tire/wheel separately and cut out.  Trace tire/wheel pattern on plywood/abs/aluminum etc and cut out.  Make up a hub plate and angle brackets.  Attach tire/wheel pattern to hub plate.  Install assembly on chassis spindle with lug nuts installed backwards and fit to position required by moving tire/wheel section in or out on the hub section.  Tighten adjustments and remove.  Measure from the centerline of the tires width/rim width to the back of the hub disc to get offset.  Jim
