Title: lp640 tail lights ?
Post by: farmer on May 31, 2014, 11:01:50 PM
hi guys

i have searched around and i noticed that nobody makes a repop of the lp640 tail lights. I see that some people have started but never finished them. I am curious where the hangups are on these lights ? I consider myself to be very handy with fiberglass and i have some friends that are into the mould making process that i have chatted with and will help me out to make moulds for these lights. So i guess my next question is what kind of market is there for these lights if done properly ?  and does anybody have a set of these  lights stripped down ?

thanks
bryan

Heck yeah there is a market for a good LP640 taillight reproduction! I wouldn't make them out of fiberglass though. I have a broken light which I plan to someday reproduce but I'm not in a hurry. I have plenty keeping me busy.

If you were to reproduce something exactly, this would be the one thing

I have the programming done to make them. But don't have the time to run them on a machine. I'll get to it someday!

I don't know, Bryan.  If I figure right, $1850 ea. on Ebay=$3700.  Cut up into 8 pieces each.  Make injection moulds for RH & LH lights, plus reflectors, plus backup lights could be a little too pricey to make the first pair, wouldn't it?  Sounds like a monster job even if you had orders for 10 pair.  my $.02
