Title: Weight of NAERC chassis?
Post by: plans4sale on July 23, 2014, 09:48:35 AM
Hey guys, does anybody know what is the weight of the bare NAERC chassis (meaning no roll-cage, suspension or any other parts)? According to a free 3d model of NAERC chassis (on which I noticed some inaccuracies, slightly different tubing and extra reinforcements), it has a total volume of 41,889 cubic centimeters (2,556 cubic inches), but I would be interested to know how this measures when converted into mass. There are different conversion formulas depending on the material type, but obviously the most accurate way to calculate the chassis weight is to directly measure the real deal. So, if anybody can help with actual numbers, please let me know.

PS: The 3d chassis can be downloaded from the following link: http://grabcad.com/library/naerc-lamborghini-diablo-murcielago-kit-car-chassis-1 (http://grabcad.com/library/naerc-lamborghini-diablo-murcielago-kit-car-chassis-1)

Thank you! I had the opportunity to see this weight calculation and it surprised me a bit.
