Title: Mike's LP 670 build - Glass
Post by: lp670mike on November 15, 2014, 04:16:20 PM
Picked up a 90' 300zx windshield fits pretty good but a little short.  It matches the pillars pretty nice.
I also got the top of the roof window frame to make a mold of to make the top of the roof work with that windshield. I will get pics up tomorrow morning, to dark now.  I have also heard that a Honda crz windshield will work but have not confirmed that. I picked up this windshield for 75 bucks and got the roof window frame piece for free. So I figured I would give it a try. It will be a slight visual compromise for sure but if you are on a tight budget it is a very usable option.

picks tomorrow. happy building gentlemen

I've hear the same on the crz windshield, wish I knew someone that had one so I could take my template and measure it.

I need to find a windshield for my car soon also, definitely interested in seeing what you come up with.

It needs a filler piece top and bottom and probably a slightly larger wiper cowl but to keep a build affordable I think this is a feasible option.

Just a thought on the crz windshield.
I would have to guess that to use one it would require filler pieces as well on at least the top or bottom if not both. Also it is likely a more expensive windshield.  With that said I think that the cheaper 300zx windshield would be a better option as they most likely require the same amount of work.  Then again this all speculation.  If I can get my hands on a crz I will try to get better info.  But for now I am leaning towards using the 300zx windshield.

Mike, throw us some numbers for the windshield size required.  I posted the size of a 97 Grand Prix 2-dr. on a build diary on here.  47" across the top, 33" on the sides, and 62.5" across the bottom.

The murci windshield measures

This is from my wife's Mazda CX9 2007 and what I am planning on having cut if I don't find a better option.   Overlook my awesome scissor cutting skils jajajaja.  If you see the roof line is almost perfect.

Sides and bottom would need to be cut.

8 years ago I installed first glass of 300ZX and it was the best solution for those times

We really need a "GLASS" category in our "How To Tips" section.  I think that it would be helpful if we had the dimensions of your windshield size of your build body.  That way we can post what we have found that most closely fits.  Maybe we could use the following picture to get a more accurate idea of what you have found.  First off, we will need to know who made your body, the model of your body, and then the size of the windshield that is required.  Hope this helps.  Jim
