Title: CARLISLE 2016
Post by: 01Lambiero on March 09, 2016, 07:56:04 AM
Crunch Time, guys.  10 more weeks!!!  Do we still have 7 solid cars that will be there??   WORK ::zzzzz, WORK ::zzzzz, WORK! :CSS ::headbang ::bounce ::salute ::thumbup  I'm still IN.

Jim

On a sad note: Carlisle Import and Kitcar Nationals has been renamed CARLISLE IMPORT & PERFORMANCE NATIONALS.  The dates are still the same: May 20-22, 2016.  I would have to guess that lack of participation by the replica groups has caused this.  We need to push our hobby to show that we are still alive.

Need to have a strong showing

42 more days until the Carlisle Pa. show.   Push, push, push!!! Where's my spray paint?  Where's my wax?  Where's my motel reservation confirmation slip?  Gotta put on the truck license plate tabs too.  Hope that we can have more guys come to the show even if they can't bring their cars.  Still pushing for 7 Lambos to be there.

Jim

p.s. Anybody seen my tollroad transponder?

Carlisle Car Show is coming up way too fast.  The show lasts from Friday thru Sunday.  All types of "Kit" cars are to be seen Friday and Saturday.  Sunday is NOT a good day and Friday is good but not like SATURDAY!

DO WE STILL HAVE 8 CARS COMING??  I'm doing my best to be there on time come cloudy or sun or the other type.  Got to do a little bondoing and reassembling and then it's load up and head east.

Here is the Lambo Group viewing area just in case you haven't been there before.  Come one, come all if possible.
Carlisle has changed the layout map but we should be in the same area.  Thanks for all the help.
Jim
The colored map is found on Carlisle's website for better viewing.  We will be located in the "GM" area.

Yes.  The building is now called the "Race Paddock".  ??????  I thought that all the buildings were designated by a letter.  Yup, up on the ole hill.  Why would they remove "kit car" from the program and then set up a "GM, Ford, Chrysler area?????

USMC:  Poor planning on your part.  Come back this week!!!!
AB: You better get there at 7:00 AM on Friday at the latest Gate #3.  If not then 7:00 AM on Saturday at Gate#3.

Due to the "Performance" addition to the program, it looks like our area will be taken up with the "GM" performance cars and we will be pushed westward a row or two (according to the "new" layout map)

Onward and eastward with the Silverado and trailer.
Title: Re: CARLISLE 2016
Post by: RT on May 15, 2016, 02:05:22 PM
I just looked at the new layout for the show car placement.  Jim is right, we will be moved a little Westward.  We will still have the grass we had before but only the front half.  behind us is supposed to be GM.  Somehow I don't see the field filling up like Carlisle would like to see it.  Still, we can't fill up beyond where we were but at least they didn't move us to the other side of the grounds.  We will be OK.  Hey, maybe we will gain some "converts" to our passion!  You know if you are a "car guy" you are a "car guy".  The race fans could get hooked on our obsession.  LOL
I will be there Saturday.  Unfortunately I will not have my car there.  The GOOD news is, MY CAR IS IN PAINT!
I see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I am in year THIRTEEN of this project and am so glad it is coming to an end.  It WILL be done this year.
If anyone is thinking about building one of these, be serious about what is ahead of you.  It is a very demanding project.
Even after the work is done, I STILL have to license and title it AND insure it before I can drive it.  I will be glad to have the car but I will also be glad to have my life back.  So much to do, so little time to do it.
I am looking forward to see everyone at Carlisle.
LET'S PARTY!

The weather doesn't look good for this Saturday at Carlisle.  90% chance of rain!
Here is a link to the weather channel...

Click on the Saturday bar and it details the day.
If this is true, I don't think I will make the trip.
What do you guys think you will do?

I am in Carlisle at present and it is nice.  Weather is supposed to be partly cloudy and partly sunny tomorrow.   Saturday is still iffy but we'll take what is given to us.  It's always good to put a face with a name and do a little "Lambo bench building".

Well the crap meter keeps hitting me.  Had to have EMERGENCY eye surgery late last week, still having a hard time seeing.  This could cause a problem towing a car trailer 5 plus hours.  So as of right NOW ... No Countach from me this year.  Did I say how pissed I was.... I have only missed 3 shows in the past 20 plus years.  If I can find a driver I might try to make it Saturday.... If NOT good luck to everyone.  If I locate a DRIVER I MIGHT BE THERE..... ::LAMBO

A good day in Carlisle today.  Talked to over 30 people who had so many different questions.  One lady asked what the exhaust temps were.  Looks like we will have a little dew fall tomorrow but will wait and see.  I forgot to tape down my hood and lost it on my way to the fairgrounds.  Rats!!!!!!!  Jimbo drove his immaculate Diablo up again on Friday to join my wife and I.  A few pics that I had time to take.

I was there Sat. morning but felt like I was in a zoo.  The yellow vested man at the gate told me that I could technically enter even though I had my admission sticker on my windshield. ::scratch  To fit in, I really needed a Honda Civic with a "fart can" installed.  They were there everywhere.  The "Parking area" was almost unaccessable for my truck and trailer.  People seemed indifferent as to allowing a truck and trailer to pass.  I drove past the "kitcar area" around and back out the exit.  So long, Carlisle.  Call me when you come up with a "better" car show idea.  Oh, I almost forgot about the "tuner exhaust sound exhibition area" competition. :'(

The town of Carlisle is in the business of car shows, they have an event there every other weekend for the whole summer. There is no incentive to swap their worst show with another just to give it the better date in June.

88 my friend, it was a good show? I have a Rule of Thumb about car shows. If you take the number of cars at the show that I am interested in seeing, then multiply that number by ten, that final number must be higher than the number of dollars that it took for parking and admission. Do you also think that Danica Patrick is a good racecar driver?
