Title: Alternator wiring
Post by: mhotmarkx1 on October 11, 2016, 11:02:58 AM
I have a cs130 Alt w/internal regulator & SFLP connector on a v8 Chevy Eng & no charge. I have a few wires that i am uncertain of.  I also noticed that the regulator constantly runs & drains battery.
It has the following labeled wires at the + stud:915 alternator, Alternator to battery source, & a wire to the S on the connector.
At the connector SFLP: I have wire S to the + stud, & an exciter wire 914 (0 volts/key off, 12 volts/ key on) I believe goes to L terminal. Also have another wire, no idea where it goes? Either way, i tried swapping wires & alternators & still do not get 14 volts output. How should this be properly wired & avoid battery drain???? any help will be appreciated. thx

Thx.I saw this too. But I have no light and I am trying to understand what all the wires actually are needed for. I have a voltmeter on the dash. Either way I still don't charge.

Key turns the one wire hot with the ignition circuit.  The large gage wire is the output wire that goes to your battery.  You only need 2 wires.
