Title: Cementheads build diary
Post by: cementhead on May 06, 2012, 06:00:45 PM
Hello everyone. I am building an lp640 on a chassisworks tube chassis. I started out on a Boxster, but it didn't work out for me. I am using a vq35 nissan engine out of an 04 350z mated to a porsche 915 transaxle. I am having trouble loading photos. I will get it figured out I hope.

Looking good, cementhead.  Are you using the Corvette C5 suspension or a different setup?

I was wondering when we were going to get to see it mounted
Looks awesome in white!

Where did you find wheels or are the rears same width as fronts?

I am using a c4 front suspension with 13inch grand sport brakes. Rear is chassisworks tubular.

They are modular society 20x13 rears and 20x9.5 fronts. Came off an 07 Murci.

I live across the street from a church and I pulled it out to rinse it off, this was like last summer.

Did you end up having to widen the front frame to get the wheels to fit? I'm trying to avoid doing that! Seems like it would be a pain.

The rear wheels fit perfect.  I had to use 1" spacers in the front. 88-96 c4 front suspension has a 2" wider track than 84-85. I had the 88-96 and I didnt want to widen the frame. I don't blame you for not wanting to widen it. The steering rack, clutch master cylinder, and many other things will need to done over.

Wider arms makes it shorter? As in the 84-85 arms would work perfectly? Yea I have the 88-96 since that's what the plans said to use. Didn't know any better. Blast!

I have 88-96 too. Wider arms make it wider. Sorry for the confusion.

That steering column does look a lot nicer. Looks like it sticks out the same distance. Did you use u-joints from it I'm guessing? Lost all the pms on the other site so I can't remember if you said.

How's the front trunk going to look with the sway bar there? Just smaller space?

The column had to come out an additional 4.25" to be in the right position. I used the upper half of the Sebring column shaft and adapted that to the mpv rack. The sway bar really cuts the trunk off, but I may put my radiator up front anyway.

I made a new firewall structure today to fit the body. It use to come up in the middle of the quarter windows. I will start on my sheetmetal next.

Aw so no oem position? Guess it's just me and digi then :\

Seemed like it would be a lot of work to move the window in and make the pockets. What happens to the top of the hatch when you move the window in? Will there be a space there? Have you talked to Digi?

Give him a chance like when people give you a chance when you take months to deliver. 2 months doesn't even compare from what I experienced. Just saying.

I didn't call you out on the 7th month or whatever it was, and I didn't exactly get notice from you unless I bugged the hell out of you.
