paint color suggestions
« Reply #1 on: June 28, 2013, 03:49:46 PM »
The weekend after the 4th of July Im starting to sand down my car for a respray. I have 3 gallons of Dupont clear (& activators) but need to get the base coat soon. I cant make up my mind on what silver to get....

The car is currently Mercedes Iridium Silver Metallic, which Im not totally happy with it just dont have the metallic punch I want. The samples below are just samples, I will get the paint locally but just to give you an idea of which way Im leaning toward:

1st- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brilliant-Silver-Firemist-Gallon-Kit-URETHANE-BASECOAT-CLEAR-Auto-Paint-FAST-Kit-/140996353050?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item20d4099c1a&vxp=mtr
I have this on my 1968 swb GMC truck 2 toned with black and I really like it. Its brighter and has more metallic grain than the Iridium silver I have on the car now.

2nd- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silver-Blue-Metallic-Premium-Gallon-Kit-URETHANE-BASECOAT-Car-Auto-Paint-Kit-/390606965314?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item5af1fd4a42&vxp=mtr
For some reason Im liking the Silver blue....

3rd- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bright-Silver-Metallic-Gallon-Kit-URETHANE-BASECOAT-CLEAR-Car-Auto-Paint-Kit-/140995581745?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item20d3fdd731&vxp=mtr
Option just to get away from the Iridium Silver

4th- Just go back with the Iridium Silver and not have to worry about having to do the door jams, and under side of the front and rear hoods.

The color samples provided on the links really dont represent the real color, I have the real paint chips here and are best displayed in sun light. I do want to state I have no interest in whats the "factory" color, I dont care for the Lamborghini Diablo silvers. Any suggestions?
