Thank you apsara !
I agree on your item 1  :)    'Highly unlikely they would' which is a bummer but too true
I think I will probably end up cutting and re-glassing (e.g. your #2)
I played a little with #3 before and I don't see a way to make this work without affecting the look of everything but would like that to work
I was dopey enough to bond one side to the main body - I was thinking that maybe if I just build the rocker support (metal under framework, which I didn't finish yet) to the 'right shape', and screw it down (since the rocker is glued to the body), I might be able to pull it back down as it pulls to the body.
But I am worried it might crack it?
Thank you!!

heating it will do nothing but make the resin brittle and crack.  They only way it could get warped is if the part was pulled prematurely and just let sit to sag with out curing the part.  Even if it was pulled the next day after it was laid up, it still takes a few days for it to fully cure.

Anyways, solution to fix the problem.
1-get the supplier to replace the part (which is unlikely)
2-cut and stitch the part back to the correct place
3-place on a table, clamp one side down, twist the part to the correct shape you want it to be.  clamp that down and glass in ribs supports, can be made of fiberglass, cardboard, clay, wood, metal, whatever you want to use it all becomes rock hard after you glass it.  This will retain the shape after it cures.

I'm sorry - what do you mean 'cut them'?
What did you do with yours?
Do you have a build diary with this info?
Thanks!

If the sun won't do it I don't think any additional heat wouldnt be wise. Worst case you can cut them like I did mine, probably more work than you want to do but it can be done! Good luck

Thanks Texas!
I will try 'pulling on them' with braces and clamps and putting them in the sun and see before I try more heat because using too much heat worries my in so many ways !

They sure don't even want to bend at all as they are - nice and thick which is 'normally' great :0

It has been really hot here so your suggestion might work with the pressure applied - hadn't thought of your idea :)
Greatly appreciated!

By the way, I do plan to add a metal framework after - just haven't gotten there yet.  I need to do my whole roll cage, etc.
Tons of work to go!   ;)

All fiberglass parts are going to move in some way or another. The only way to minimize this is reinforce it with something that moves less (steel supports). You MIGHT improve it buy using some bracing and clamps in the sun for a couple days but even if it shapes up like you want you will still have to support it to keep the shape. Scott's LOL

I'm well aware of how the process works.
It's call humor...jokes... Relax and try laughing instead of taking it as an attack.

Thanks.
Fiberglass is laid in sheets over a form, or sprayed and then sheets laid over, set in molds, or other approaches.
What I was asking was 'AFTER' it is made 'wrong' like mine, what possibilities were available and you gave a sarcastic response about fertilizer.  I was hoping for someone to tell me if there is a solvent, heating, or other way that would actually work.
I am always amazed at people that have to be rude - at least there are a lot of helpful people in this group!
The sentence was simple - I said 'bent' meaning it 'deformed' AFTER it was made and was curing

Fiberglass isn't "bent" into shape as you indicated... Sorry I tried to help. Go hold a heat gun on there smarty pants and let us know how it works.

I don't think you can change the shape of fiberglass once it's cured without cutting things apart and reworking them. Maybe throw some of that Scott's on em and see if they grow into shape  ::toothy

G28 Rocker Panels - vent wrong angles
« Reply #1 on: August 24, 2013, 07:56:37 PM »
Hi all
My G28 rocker panels are bent differently between the two - e.g.my left rocker has a much > 90° amgle and the the left is worse (almost 120°).

It looks like they laid them down after molding and let them sag badly!

Is there a way to 'unbend' them without ruining them?
e.g. with a Heat Gun or..... ????

If someone could details I would REALLY appreciate it !!

Thank you in advance!
Peter
