Your wire gauge is plenty big. I would try a 20 amp, to handle the amp spike when started.

Hi there, i have a air compressor that i use to raise and lower the front of my car.  I have it connected directly to the battery with a disconnect switch located near the battery terminal, i want to install a push button on/off switch located near the cockpit area but would feel better if i also used an inline fuse or breaker. What size breaker should i use. Here are the details:
Total wire length will be approx 8-10ft
6 gauge wiring i think (would smaller wire be sufficient?)
Compressor 12v dc 15 amp

. Thanks for any help.
