Don't see why that zip tie is there.  Is the guide cracked?  Try removing the zip tie to see if there is anything wrong with the striker.

I got an Alfa Romeo 164 catch and striker too but it looks like the striker has been rigged to work properly with a zip tie. I am wondering if it is a big deal to fix or I should send it back for a refund?

If I don't have time to do it right, when will I have time to do it over?

Just another option that works really well, is compact and cheap. I have a latch, striker, cable and lever from a VW Rabbit. It has the spring and safety catch built in.

If you can find used ones ( discontinued) , Alfa 164 boot catch and striker good for the engine hood , as the striker plate is on a flat plane to the striker.

Thanks for all the info you provided.  I was abe to find this catch and striker here is a picture.

The front trim's I wouldn't mind buying, those details I can't resist. I'd like to do the front trunk like oem.
I tend to wait until someone makes a copy of it but doesn't always happen in decent time frame if ever

I only have the little height adjusters so far lol

Ya your right, it just makes way better sence to take the time to figure out what type of bracket, what type of latch and then take the time to fab pieces, I can assure you that buying the stuff that is meant to work if you can for the  right prices, saves money and time, I thought the purpose of building a car was to have one to drive rather than set in a shop,  allot of guys want to sane money and time so the post was just some fyi not to debate OEM parts or not,
That's cool , my only intention is to answer the query that was raised - my trouble is that in messages I come across a bit harsh because I am being factual with the information I have.
My reasons for finding replica parts is because of the genuine parts I have bought , such as the boot carpet and front trim which the catches pass through. That is why I couldn't agree more about buying the 'right parts' to save time / money.
A modest amount of research for example came up with me buying the Diablo 6.0 seatbelt set new , a huge saving over the murcie set and the only discernable difference is the warning light switch on the passenger buckle.
Front boot,regards, :)
Oooh , Red leather.

carless what the latches look like for me its about function and also a BIG BIG issue is time as well, everyone on here as different ways of fabing, doing and finishing their cars, some guys want it perfect, some want it done quickly and  others just want something to do no matter how long it takes because it is a way to get away from the wife, lol, regardless of the reasons I think there is allot of talented guys on this site that can build and fab things and yes Tallon my car as gotten out of hand but when I go to sell it hopefully it will pay off. This build will have a complete build diary that I will be more then happy to share, I have a guy in the office doing research on equvilant parts to the OEM ones I have purchased so they can be offered in a complete kit setup so guys don't have to look for parts that will work and then spend the time trying to find them. I can say this from experince that the kit car industry has not had the best reputation over the years and hopefully once we get everything done we can share the info so builders can find and buy parts that will work and get their cars built quicker. Please don't think I take offense to anything that is said because each guy here as their own reason to do it their way.

My car goes to paint April 26th, two months later then I expected but, it will be in paint by mid May and then interior. Honestly if you have the latches and the skills to do the installation, then by all means tackle the job, if I had the time and was set up to do it that is what we would have done, by the way Tallon we are opening a shop here in East TN that will have one of the best metal fab guys, painters, fiber glass and mech around the area, I have wanted a shop for years and its just time to put together a operation that can build cars, boats, motor cycles, or anything that the mind can dream up.

I just meant fab the mount that the citroen catch swings on :\ but I guess that catch doesn't look that much like oem, what I think about is oem stuff that I want more like the seat belt set :)

I've never had a metal shop to go to either so never had the privilege of having anything done or to know what it would cost. I do get some metal where I work though so I'm not too S.O.L.
Would be nice to live closer to where you are though, I'm about 5.5 hrs away

Tallon I didn't take it as anything, This car makes like 25 different ones I have had built over the years, your right latches shouldn't cost that much, when I say it was 1,000.00 it included a bunch of small pieces including the latches, if you are paying a very good fabricator then you will will spend what I did getting this stuff done, I paid 500.00 for everything it cut fab time from a week to one day that's all I was saying. A lot of stuff is already known though, doesn't hurt to ask some times before spending a ton of money
These parts add up, that's why you have so much money in to yours as you have said yourself.

it doesn't take hours to fab a piece like that, look at all the brackets that were needed fabbing on the tube chassis

No offense to you... if I had the money I'd buy them, I just wouldn't use that as a solution for everything on the car

Could buy every little oem part on the car but then it would make sense to just buy the car :\
could always disassemble and re-assemble it for the build experience

Pics of the underside of the front and rear bonnets.
To mount the citroen catch I will have to make the outer frame - similar shape to the original , a section of 'U' channel would suffice with the sides profiled, and then when the holes are drilled through it - the spring automatically tensions the lever and locks the pivot pin in one action as the pin is inserted.
Oooh , Red leather.
