Well guys I guess its time to show my new purchase. It is a 06 Murcielago slightly wrecked :LL: I will be leaving next week to pick it up in Florida. I will still be finishing my replica build but I just couldn't pass up an original car for the money. After my replica is done I will sell it and put the money into this.
The plan is to bring it all back to factory and run a Audi 4.2 A8 motor and Porsche transaxle. I want something as strong as original yet easy to maintain. We will see as time gets closer but this is my goal. Ill have better pictures next week when I pick it up, I have already made connections for all of the suspension components, front frame section and body panels.
-
WHAT! I DID NOT EXPEC THAT!
Congratualtions man. How awesome is that? ::headbang
-
Absolutely Fantastic!!!
-
WOW. very impressive
-
That is awesome, congrats. What should one expect to pay for a car like this, I've been on a lookout for reasonably priced chassis or wrecked car as well.
-
congrats ::beers
-
Awesome!
-
Wow that's awesome news! Sounds like you have a lot of what you will need sorted out.
-
OMG So many parts!!
Send some of those interior panels to texas for another round :D
-
EPIC!
-
Man I love this thread, I can't wait for you to get it. I bet you're dying to go pick it up. You have any idea which LS engine you're going to use?
-
had you thought about putting the benz 12 (M120) in there?
That motor is bulletproof and can make a TON of power plus it has the all important SOUND!!!!!
-
Adrian I haven't given much thought to it. Im more interested in the power and maintenance of the LS, I have several thoughts going into this build. My plan is to single or twin turbo the LS, I want the power to be comparable to the original car. Also if I can come up with a good plug and play method to this using the factory Murci wiring for the instruments to work I may consider doing swaps for more maintenance free exotics, I doubt there would be a big calling for this, however for the $60+ grand the lambo dealer wants for a factory swap I could do a new LS swap for half that. I personally (depending on how this goes) continue getting a few cars and doing this. The 6.2 Murci's (02-06) have motor problems and when they go the car pretty much goes with it. This is just some early thoughts. I also plan on using a Manual paddle shift setup on the transaxle http://www.proshift.com/proshift_ps35_24_volt_paddle_shift_system (http://www.proshift.com/proshift_ps35_24_volt_paddle_shift_system) similar to this system.
-
Man ! , that is a serious undertaking and one heck of a project . Looks like some bones have been picked out of it - so to speak . As long as the instrument pack and GFA computer are present then there is a good chance of getting the electricals to function which would be cool.
Top stuff ::thumbup

That is a big draw for the M120, it is bullet proof and it is more than a match for the LS you can get 1000 hp and 1200 tq from it by just unshackeling the EMC, heck you get almost 700 in the car stock
-
It would be completely badarse if you could get a drivetrain out of the new upcomming midengine Corvettes. But you would more than likely have better chances of winning the Lotto over comming across one of those drivetrains....
-
I wish the mid-engine Corvette rumors were true. Let's hope.
-
Its true- http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/09/zora-mid-engine-corvette-to-show-face-by-2017/ (http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/09/zora-mid-engine-corvette-to-show-face-by-2017/)
-
Wow. This has been rumored for so long, I just stopped believing it. Great news for all of us! Of course, getting a used Gallardo or R8 drivetrain would probably be cheaper. ;)
-
If General Motors can make a profit selling a product, they will usually market the item. Look at all the LS E-Rod drive trains for sale!
-
Picked up the car today and have a long voyage home tomorrow. Need to make a few stops along the way. I'm not able to post pics from my phone sill I'll have somebody post up sum for me.
-
I wish the mid-engine Corvette rumors were true. Let's hope.
I was reading a magazine at work, stating the mid engine vette was a go!
-
Finally got home over the weekend, got the car all unloaded and had limited time to mess with it. On the way home I stopped and picked up some parts from Mr Watson. Also took some measurements of this chassis and his motor setup. So, I'm changing my decision on the LS swap in the car. I've decided to use a Audi motor and transaxle due to the reliability and not wanting to run an adapter and so many of the plugs on the Original car are Audi plugs.
When I got home the first thing I did was get a new battery to check the electronics and I got all of the gauges working, AC control's, window, mirror and all working! Anyway here are all the pictures I have...

Thanks for sharing. I especially like those measurements. I'm sure they will come in handy for some folks. :)

That means the computers are still good, that's a big plus!

How cool is that! ... im so happy i could cry :'(

He is actually getting around quite well from the short time I was there...!

I'm switching a few Carbon Fiber pieces over from my replica build to this original.
-
I got these in the mail from Autopro and WOW they are so nice, even way better then factory parts, unbelievable!!!!!! I'm so excited about them, shipping only look 2 days! HUGE thanks to him for such nice quality parts and a great price!
-
Makes me happy you liked them!
-
Hey man this looks great so far. I have a question though have you looked up what insurance is gonna be. Last time I checked Lambo's insurance 10k plus a year I am wondering what you would have to do to get it lowered since its not a full on one when you are done.
-

There are many different ways to insure the Original cars. Most peoples insurance is stupid high because of the financing company's require it. In my case I don't owe anything on this car so I could just do liability if I wanted and it wouldn't be any more then my daily driver however I will just get a full coverage policy with a max of 60K with a high deductible (just a estimate) if anything happens I can fix almost anything on the car for around that. That would make the insurance very affordable.
-
Got my other batwing in (Green) and mounted it. Ordered all of my body panels and once there are all in I will get to work on remaking the front chassis and straightening out the rear. I did a little upholstery work and installed the leather on the center console arm rests
-
This will be my little write up on how to install the Carbon Fiber shark mouth onto the instrument cluster housing. Its crazy how easy these come out, there are just 2 little butterfly bolts that hold the front of the cluster down and the back just has a little slide bracket. The only real modification I had to do is sand the resin out of the holes so the cluster buttons would fit.

I got all of the interior trim pulled to get "cleaned up" getting it out in the mail today. Fitted the quarter panel just for looks. Also trying to work out a deal on some seats from a member on the forum, just waiting on a price. Not much else is going to happen on this until my other car is finished, but as I get time I will keep this thread updated.
-
I see the cat likes the Lambo too!
What is the center tunnel made of? It king of looks like it may be carbon fiber. Is it bonded to the chassis with a glue or something?

The tunnel is part of the chassis, that's where the tranny goes in along with the drive shaft for the front, etc. so what you are seeing on the inside is just sound deadening and layers of covering over the metal.
-
Hope that cat doesn't use your car as a scratching post, if he does send him to me I'll take care of him! >:(
-
Have a few more parts that will be on there way soon. These came in to Chris last week and will find there way onto the car very soon!
-
Thanks for letting me visit for a weekend and check out the car up close. And thanks for the epic party! Oklahoma hospitality is top notch. ::beers

Need to make it a National Holiday!!!

Well quite a bit of parts acquired and work being done on this car. I have renamed the car Skittles because of all the different color Murci parts I'm acquiring! Starting off I bought a 99 Audi A8 with the 4.2 V8 for my engine swap, stock power is around 315-320 should make more with some upgrades and twin turbo's down the road, but for now just the swap all working with the factory murci wiring and getting the gauges working is my goal. I also acquired a Transaxle out of a Audi S6 (98-04) with the twin turbo, it is the same transmission used in the Porsche Boxter's in 96-2000. This will all bolt together with no adapter need. Im not sure if I will go with a stand alone engine management system or the factory Audi A8 computer.
-
I ordered some parts off of a wrecked blue Murci out of Tennessee. The 3rd brake light housing and the manual pedal assembly since I will be going with a manual tranny this time around instead of the egear. I also got a nice gift in on Christmas eve, my seats, back engine hatch, hinges and column cover!
-
That's an awesome engine and the one I wished I had in my car, maybe in the future. Good deal on getting so many parts this fast!
-
I also have been working with Cliff at Cliffs custom fab letting him do some small work on the side for some suspension components and the front chassis, he has all of the OEM measurements of the original car and has the metric tubing, depending on how that all goes I will continue doing business with him and hope for the best. Here are a few more pictures also...
-
Lol! I can see why you've chosen the name Skittles! I think you should leave it that way, but then again you may attract the wrong crowd! Either way you are really moving quickly and things are looking good! :notworthy
-
LOL C! Maybe that's what he wants, we shouldn't judge.
I don't like skittles but I like your car jajaja
-
HAHA Im just trying to attract you Purple... And it must be working!
-
Last Friday I made a little venture to our good friend Mr. Watson and picked up some parts I purchased from No Bull and were long over due to be finished and some parts I had paid for a while back. I picked up a passenger lower rear quarter, rear exhaust lid and wing, both rockers, both fenders, inner hood. I still need to get a front bumper and driver quarter in a couple weeks to complete all of my body panels minus the passenger door and it will be a month or so before I can afford the one I'm looking at.

Whats the story on the white lp640 behind the truck with the box?
Its one of Victors original Murci's
-
I had a little bit of time last night to do a little work on the car. Took about an hour to get to this point. Watsons parts fit so nice. The body panels still need lots of trimming and they are just sitting in place nothing is bonded
-
Your gaps are very nice for just having the panels loosely fitted, great job!
-
Porsche transaxle bolted to the 4.2 Audi motor and sat in the car
-
Dang! You are going to have that on the road in no time! :D
-
Great job Dustin! as in verrrry nice! im so darn jealous im going have to get drunk now thanks alot! ::thumbup p.s. hey fellas why everytime i want to say a curse word it corrects me and say "darn" or "dang" or "gee whiz" cant i say a friggen curse word sometimes?? Gee whiz!
-
"Wow", is all i can say!!
-
You are my hero ::thumbup
-
That engine sure does look nice in there, I can only imagine what it will look like when its all detailed. Beautiful!
-
Not much to talk about other then I got my motor mounts made, got some parts back from the upholster & got all of my parts from No Bull
-
This will be a lot of help for me, thanks for posting. Did you mock them up from wood or cardboard? You did an awesome job making them :notworthy

Well after 9 months of no posting time resurrect my build thread and give some updates. I haven't got as far as I had hoped since I had to nearly finish my replica build and deliver it earlier this year. Right now the car still is not running due to needing to order a replacement key fob that mates to my Murci Vin # it takes 3 weeks to get from Italy. right now soon as I turn the key on the alarm goes off and shuts power down to the GSM (which runs everything).
I'll start off with pictures switching the cars peddles over from E-Gear to manual since I will be using the Porsche Transaxle & removing the paddles from the column… next few pictures are removing the factory dry sump oil system and interior pictures after everything is complete inside.
-
Next I purchased a crashed door from Mr. Watson and planned on fixing it, worked out pretty good until I scratched it and went another direction when i found a better door in California when I visited. Ill post these pictures, might help somebody when they design there doors.
I started off by cutting and straigtening out the bent metal on the back of the door and adding the new metal.
-
This is the door I ended up getting while I was in Cali, it was bent in the front and ended up being an easier fix, so I ended up using a piece of the outer door skin off the old door to fit it..
-
This is some working on the LP640 upgraded rockers. I had to take the OEM early Murci oil cooler and turn it 180 Deg so it fit into the LP640 scoop.
-
You have great skill, not just anyone can tackle a job like that and turn out quality work like yours.

Here are a few of the front chassis rebuild pictures... ::beers

It's late here and I only just read this after returning from France , but it looks to me that your alarm problem may be associated with not having any door looms connected as far as I can determine. These will be required by the alarm unit(226) to verify whether the doors are locked/unlocked .
I don't think the central locking switches will need to be plugged in ...but probably best.
:)
-
Long time no updates! Continuing on… I got my tag and title all one, good clear 2006 Murcielago title with good Oklahoma tag! too bad its not ready to drive ::duh Got my wheels, tires and suspension in and on...
-
Since I not going AWD I had to have these made to keep the hub in the carrier. They go in place of the stock front drive shaft. Also here are a few more pictures of a Murci at Lambo of Dallas in the maintenance bay.
-
Started some body work, jammed the door, installed new wiring, latches & speakers. Still waiting on my door glass, felt & regulator (should be here any day) ::headbang
-
Lastly, to the point I'm at right now is getting the wiring migrated over from the donor Audi. Kinda looks like the Murci Sh1t :'( all its wiring out all over the ground lol!!!
-
Absolutely impressive Butler! You get that thing fired up and I'll have to pay you another visit!!! ::bounce
-
Made a little headway today just messing with the stock ECU and wiring. After doing a little looking my RPM sensor (not sure what to call it goes on the tranny) anyway didn't know my transmission had a place for it. I found the location plugged it in and it fired right up on some ether. Im going to continue working with the stock ECU for a little bit now that it is running and see what I can do. Plan is to use one of the Murci fuel pumps to run the motor, the Murci came with 2 one for each fuel rail both putting out about 50-60 psi (hope that is enough) flow rate shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think. Need to start eliminating a bunch of wires find the fuel pump relay on the audi harness, and go from there. Here is a youtube video I posted. Im sure ill be getting a bunch of haters for me doing this but doesn't bother me.

You make me so jealous, that stance on your car looks perfect! Do you know when you are getting your quarters and rear bumper installed?
-
Long behind on updates! I picked those up from A friend in Cali! Super nice going to try to get them on tomorrow!
-
Also picked up this Capristo muffler with the help of Autopro and another friend, got it a few days ago and installed it tonight. I do have the car running but no sound clips with the muffler yet.
-
Here is a quick video of it running with the VEMS stand alone engine management (still needs tuned). No muffler and huge vacuum leak (didn't knwo it at the time)
https://youtu.be/Oiq-lg3ZNJI
-
Awesome sound !! In the video you covered those gorgeous mufflers inside a metal box ? Wouldn't it be better to leave them exposed ?
-
No that is the factory muffler in the video. That video was made last week and I just got the new muffler on yesterday.
-
WOW! That looks awesome, can't wait to hear it.
-
OMG! That is awesome!
Way to go!
I bet you can't wait to take it for a drive.

-
Thanks! Yes I can't wait, still a bit to go. Shooting for late spring for completion.
Worked on the fenders a bit today getting them all ligned up, prob put the bumper on tomorrow

Few more pictures before I change it up again! Ordered a full custom engine wiring harness that will take about a month to have made and after that most everything will be on the drive train so nothing mich to show for a few months.

So I changed directions again on my build! Going back with the LP640 look & changing out the Audi 4.2 to a 5.3 or 6.0 LS. Here is a YouTube link to the sound of the 4.2 motor running through my Capristo exhaust

' Going back ' to LP640 , is that considered ' Retro ' ... ? now .. ::tongue
-
Very Nice Dustin!!! it sounds bad a$$!!
-
Been a long time since I've posted anything so I'll try to get caught up over the next couple days! Had to upgrade my shop since the last time I was on here for more room. Decided to go a different direction once again on the build. I was having trouble tuning the VEMS on the Audi 4.2 and where I live nobody around here has a clue how to do it so I decided to go with a 5.3 LS. I had the fun of removing the remaking quarter sections off the car (this was a total nightmare I suggest not doing it if have the option) the Lambo glue was something not of this earth! But anyway got it all off. I'll continue to post over the next day or so to get the thread back up to date! And for the non readers here are some pictures. ::beers
-
HEY! I am not a non reader. I read the pictures.
-
Here are a few more pictures for the picture readers! Transferring it to the new shop, stripping the quarters off the car and prepping for the new ones to be installed soon (hopefully)
-
New motor transplant! Pulling the Audi 4.2 and putting in the 5.3 LS and Audi 01E tranny. Using a cathedral port headed LS, Corvette intake (facing backward), Camaro/Later Corvette style oil pan, Seimens Deka IV 60lb injectors (for twin turbo down the road), stainless headers through Capristo Murci mufflers, new custom LS harness and custom tune on the stock computer. Eric at Kit Car Chassis made the adapter.
-
Still waiting to install the intake and harness & Sorry for the crooked pictures!
-
Man, my neck hurts >:(
-
Thanks ^ you'd think I should know how to fix that issue... ::scratch
-
That engine / transmission combination looks simply awesome! This bad boy is going to scream going down the road.
-
Finally got the LS running today!

Have some time to post on this old build of mine. I purchased the Murci back over the summer and have been working on it again. Here are some updated pictures. I’ll keep this updated, should be done with it in the next couple months.

I knew that you were talented, but working on it upside down.... IMPRESSIVE!!!!! :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy
Seriously, good work as always

I finally got it back and finished, it’s awesome! Your project is going to be sick and in your typical fashion you continue making it better and better with all the corrections and original parts! Murci stuff is getting out of this world expensive, a person can’t even afford to build a replica of one anymore with the lack of replica parts available.
