Title: Murci LP640 (ish) door hinges
Post by: Aloha on September 17, 2023, 11:17:05 PM
Allo,
I've been fishing through the threads here and it looks like 01Lambiero had done some roller bearing door hinges, I sent him a message to see if something like that were available, but not sure if he's still around.  But! in search of (I have no idea what second hand kit this 07 Murci LP640 kit is that I took off someone's hands is) but looking for door hinges and mirror files or mirrors > mirror references would be lovely.
Thank you to anyone still standing : )

Sir, apologies it took a few to find public image storage (it’s definitely been a minute since I’ve seen this kind of hosting format : )
So let’s see here, I took a quick photo of the kit as it sits, front rear ‘attachment’ points, a couple from where the front hinge-mount is intended to be, as well as looking from the hinge mount point roughly what the offset to the door mount (from front) should give a decent indice/idea of what I’m looking at. Also the angle of attack from the mirror mount standpoint.

here are the hinges I purchaed in 2017 from a guy in Burnaby BC Canada

they are pretty nice and heavy duty

I believe the large side with the hinge bolts to the frame

the smaller side bolts to the door

the the two pieces are welded together

I now, wish I had used them in the REDO ::toothy

Those are the hinges that were used on the NAERC kits. Very heavy duty. Installation shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tW-FS6bbB0&list=PLaPE0IsfT25dlJhh9RsWSR7Z7fHS6oBLg&index=3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tW-FS6bbB0&list=PLaPE0IsfT25dlJhh9RsWSR7Z7fHS6oBLg&index=3)

You can make your own hinges for about $50. Several videos on how I did it starting with this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywuffEHLc4Y (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywuffEHLc4Y)
Covered in a later video, I did replace the 1/2" bolt with 1/2" drill rod as the bolt allowed for minor movement affecting the door stability. The 1/2" drill rod eliminated that.

Very cool, thank you sir, I appreciate it.
I’m assuming you are the young lad in the video : )
I’ve watched a few of your others and have most certainly enjoyed them. Up until now, I didn’t realize that you were the star.

And yessir, judging by the time of response from the few that did, I’ll be making my own. I’ve put together a few things over the years. I suppose I’ll have to tackle some hinges. Thank you for chiming in, I appreciate it.

Based on the picture, with your fab skills, the hinges will be piece of cake. And yes, I am 76 years young.

You never sent pics or info on the two sets of mirrors you said you had. I asked a few times, messages were read but never replied to, something you were interested in getting rid of?
