It's that time of year to start thinking about the Nationals at Carlisle, PA. May 16-18. There is a discount price if the $35 3-day pass is purchased. This includes admission for two people & car for the three day event. If I remember correctly, parking for your transport trailer etc. is extra. Come out for a great time. Meet fellow builders and do some bench building. We all need support in our hobby. "FREE" Lamboclone business cards!! YES, that's right, FREE!! and maybe some candy. Friday is a good day but most of the crowd shows up on Saturday. If you can only come for one day, make it Saturday. See you there. ::wave ::thumbup ::headbang

Daughters graduation this year around this time so I won't be attending this year. I encourage anyone who hasn't been to one of these to attend at least one show. There have been less Kit Cars attend given the recession impacts however they combined the show with the imports and you'll see everything from replicas to Ferrari's to Volvo's. :D
Great opportunity to put faces with names, see some cool cars and even pick up parts.

Too bad, Chris. The "door prize" this year is going to be a LP-670 body kit. I wish the graduate the best, though. ::thumbup ::thumbup ::thumbup

That's ok, I have a preference for the LP640 anyhow. :D I had a two week business trip in California that I had to cancel also and that one really hurt.
I'm sure there will be plenty of pictures to show everyone what we missed. :'(

I am trying to get mine together so I can have something to show, I have a LONG way to go but I think this might energize me to move forward a bit faster, but either way I am planning to have mine there.
So anyone else in the VA Beach area wanna tag along let me know
-
Oh how I hope I have something worth bringing and showing this year!
My interior is done, I have to do finish bodywork before primer and paint.
I would like to have my chassis with its drivetrain back in if not everything else finished.
I will be there anyway. Jim has candy.

I am actually thinking of going to it this year also.

Dude,
When has your EVER car not had something to show?
-
Door Prize: None scheduled at this time but we will see what can be had. Stay tuned. (I like to rib Chris the wrong way as he is so busy between work, family, forum, etc.) Just attending and talking with "the guys" is amazingly informative and rewarding. The ingenuity that each of us has put into our builds is awesome to see in person.

man I can't even afford to travel to my home state :(

Tallon,
Maybe if you started walking now…

If you are tossing, please CATCH!

haha, you know, only one province in Canada (Quebec) is actually french speaking, all the rest are primarily english...even though it is our second language and there are several communities that are french strong, if you come to the west coast 80% of the lower mainland are actually Asian making us a visible minority and most people speak Mandarin,Cantonese,Japanese,Korean etc. just thought i would entertain everyone with that...as i also speak French, and some Mandarin and Cantonese...(poorly)
but i believe i too along with Mr Butler will be heading to the show this year, i am hoping to finally meet RT who has been my original inspiration to "Build a Car".
-
Well I took vacation from work to go last night and it was approved, looks like I might be there this year!
-
getting ready to reserve my hotel for that weekend does anyone have any recommendations?
-
Drumseven: I have stayed a couple of times and probably will stay at the Ramada Inn in Mechanicsburg. It's about 5 miles east of the fairgrounds. Room approx $75@night. There are some enroute into Carlisle that look nice but are not major chains.
Jim
-
Jim thanx, I'll look into getting a reservation ,looking forward to the show !
-
You can purchase a 3-day ticket ($35 for 2 people) online at the Carlisle: http://store.carlisleevents.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=23 (http://store.carlisleevents.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=23)
They will send you a window sticker so you can breeze thru the entrance gates. Friday is usually light on tire kickers but Saturday is huge. Sunday.....not much going on. Even the venders pull up stakes and move on. It would be nice if they would spice up their program to bring in more people thru Sunday...but we DO LOVE SATURDAY!!!!
Jim
-
Just got my reservation for Carlisle taken care of. $35 for the 3-day (make sure that you purchase the Kit-Car Ticket) pass for two people, $15 for parking truck/trailer, and then they give you a $3.50 discount for early registration. That lowers the total down to $46.50. Truck, Car, Trailer, and two people.

That's my home state as well Tallon and I won't be able to make it there this year. I've never been to one of the Carlisle shows, unfortunately. I will be there in a year or 2 with my 6-oh when I retire in Carlisle though. :)
-
I'm in this year for show! But not sure I have enough done to drag her out!
My car is nowhere near finished, and as long as nothing major happens in my life I will be there with mine
-
Thumper: "Car not finished yet" is NOT ACCEPTABLE. I wondered about bringing my "half" finished chassis last year and you cannot believe the interest in seeing people look at the details that go into a build like we are doing. Once the body goes on and the paint, all of the hundreds of hours of headaches, scratches, skinned knuckles, burns etc. that you personally experienced to make your build is all covered up and nobody can learn how talented you are. If at all possible, just come and do the "Meet & Greet" with the members. ::bounce ::thumbup ::headbang ::LAMBO
Jim
-
Yea my car isn't quite finished yet but it should be in about a month or 2. The only reason I can't make it up there is I'm in the military (my last year of a 20 year career :) ) and the demand at this moment is tough to get leave and make the trip. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to come up and meet some of you guys. Give me year or two and when I retire up there, you'll be sick of seeing me. Haha
-
Counting down the days to the show, I am so ready for a vacation and some lambo build motivation! ::beers
-
So jealous. With my job schedule right now, there's just no way I can make it up there. :'( Please take lots of pics. ::beers
-
Hey guys, I never been to the Carlisle Kit Car Show but been there for other swap meets. I am in need of some parts for my IFG Diablo, would it be worth me attending the swap meet to find some? Is there actually parts for sale? Just don't wanna make a trip unless it can further help on completing my build, on a budget due to the economy. Would love to meet some of the members too, its always good to put faces with names. Any insight on the show would be greatly appreciated! Clone on fella's, Thxs J
-
I have never found any replica parts in the swap meet area. The tie down strap guy is super and the tool guy is A1. Only one or two venders that I've seen. But hey, you can talk personally one on one with the replica professor, namely RT. That alone is worth the trip. MOHO. Jim
-
Sorry, guys. I won't be able to make the show this year. Just too many items that need looking into around my life. Hope that there is some sunshine there for the rest of you who attend.
Jim :'( :'( :'(
You can look but you won't be able to touch until next year, sorry.
-
Sorry I cant make it... I sure would have loved to meet some of you this year. For those that are going....You guys take lots of pics! And Post them! Cant wait to see what shows up out there. Already am looking forward to next year and will surely make it. Good luck to everyone going.
Mitch.
-
Jim bummed your not going to make it , we both live right here in MI.and still haven't met up , was looking forward to hanging out, another time im sure! hope all is well, ill take pics and try to learn how to post them, lol.
-
well I dont think my car is going to make it, I have to much incovered to risk the rain, but I will be there...
I tried to get in the pavillion on the hill where we usually are but when I called I was told that there was no more space.....
Hopefully that means there are going to be a TON of Lambos there, since that is our space anyway
-
OH. NO! Adrian! Does that mean I will be the only guy bringing my "in progress" chassis? If it isn't raining, I expect to be there. The pavilion is usually reserved for companies even though last year didn't t have any. I hope to see you there.
RT
-
RT my friend, when has it ever NOT rained at Carlisle?
-
76mx, you are right. The weather says it will be a high of 68 ands a low of 49 with a slight chance of thundershowers (4%). I have a canopy to put over my car. I hope to be there by 9 or 10 am. That means I have to "hit the sack" about now. It is a two hour drive.
I look forward to seeing everybody there.
Please everyone, identify yourself with your sign-in name and whatever name you want to be called. We are all in this together and nobody bites (as far as I know).
Let's all talk cars and have fun.
RT
-
Take plenty of pics and do a group pic, wish I could have made it this year, maybe the next one!
-
I am glad I made it to the show, but I do WISH that I had brought my car, the weather was gorgeous!!!!!
Smh
-
Any pics ?
-
I have a few, I will post when I get home.
The agrivating part is that I called Carlisle to see if I could get a spot in the pavillion, they told me that it was full only to find that there was not a single car under it >:( >:( >:(
-
Adrian: I, too, was watching the weather forcast which said RAIN, RAIN, RAIN. After the show I intended to pull up to Binghamton, NY to see relatives and then drive back to MI. Six days of driving in the rain was not a chore that I relished doing. According to Carlisle Kitcar/Import Show website, the building (Pavilion) was listed as "not available" for the Kitcar show. Why would they list it as not available if persons wanted to rent a space?? $70 per 10'x20'. Maybe I'll send them an email and try to find out why. I am glad that the weather changed and the show was enjoyable for you guys.
Jim

Thanks, Adrian, for the pics. Awesome for sure. OK, fill me in on the red Lambo. Name please. Where did the pic of the Lambo engine come from? Thanks to Jimbo and RT. Jimbo: I just drool and drool. Just looking at the effort that you guys have contributed to our sport encourages the rest of us to keep at it. RT, all of your secrets are now known. Thanks for bringing your chassis. I really missed out. :drool :'( :'( :'(
Jim
-
whats the big deal about rain? I dont have the only waterproof lambo do I ;P
-
Mine probably won't melt either, I just do not understand how they can train it to rain that same weekend for ten years.
-
Any more pics ? We're there only 3 lambos there ?
-
Two and a half Lambos were there? I am pretty sure that ties the all time record for most Lambos there, at least for the many years that I have gone. It must have been one fantastic show this year.
-
I am TERRIBLE with names, but it is a fiero build and has a modified gallardo dash in it, it looks good in there
The engine is in the countach that was there, I didnt get more pics, I tried to get back down there to it but it was gone after spending most of my time on "Diablo Hill"
-
I'm the guy with the red Lambo. my name is Bob Shaeffer out of Lexington, VA. i plan to be there for 2015. Over the winter, i got my interior all finished and upholstered. hope to see some of you there.
-
I plan on being there also. Missed out last year because of last minute delays. I'm bringing sunblock.
Jim
-
one of these days im going to frame my kit and take it to one of these shows.
-
INSPIRE ,I think you could sell at least one body at the show and make it worth the trip.
