Title: Which manufacturer??
Post by: Ccemn1 on August 21, 2017, 08:58:25 AM
Newbie here. I just purchased a very accurate Diablo replica, with Fiero running gear, that is titled on the Florida title as a 2011 ASVE.
Does anyone have ANY idea of what manufacturer this might be, or any Info that might assist me in identifying this??

You need to put up more pic from different angles, its hard to tell with just one pic though I suspect it is a IFG

ASVE on the title is not the name of the manufacturer. It means "Assembled Vehicle" and is used when the state assigns a VIN to a car that was assembled by an individual.

If there's any angles of pictures I should post for identification, please let me know?

Since all body builders have ceased manufacturing (Audi law suit threat), does it make any difference or do you want to know who assembled your replica?  Ask the previous owner.
But if you really need to know who made the fiberglass body, there are differences on the surface of the front of the quarter panels in the area of the striker down to the rocker and there are differences in the area of the door hinge down to the rocker.

Thanks guys. I was just attempting to figure out if any specific make had any particular problems, or eccentricities. This looks like it was a dead on, quality vehicle at one point in time, but apparently most who have owned it, never took very good care of it.
I've had it almost a week, and after three trips to DMV, still can't seem to get it titled & registered in my name, in spite of the fact it's a FL title and I'm in FL.
I have learned through the DMV though, that it was originally built in Nevada in 2011, then sold to someone in Pennsylvania, then sold to someone in Florida, who sold it to this dealer I bought it from in Alabama, who never changed the title.
The DMV problem is because the dealer claimed "odometer exempt", which makes perfect sense, since the donor vehicle was an 80's vehicle, but in Florida, you can't do an odometer exempt on any vehicle less than ten years old.

My door jambs don't look like either of Lambiero's Photos though?

It looks like this isn't an IFG then?
Another newbie question. I bought this car from a dealer, who didn't have a clue about almost everything.
I have these two electronic "pods" on either side of the license plate. Could they be back-up alarm sensors, cameras, or what?
Sorry I'm being such a PIA here, I'm a good mechanic and been wrenching for decades, but am totally unfamiliar with these.

What makes this look like an IFG is the placement of the headlights.  If you look the outside edges of the headlights line up with the side of the small scoops(or vents) in the fender above it.  That moves the inside of the headlights closer and makes the width of the front trunk lid narrower than a real Lambo.  Also, the top of the cowl at the base of the windshield on an IFG is higher than a real Lambo.  It looks like that is what you have.  The door latches could have been made whatever the builder wanted and don't have to be like any other build.
As for the two black items next to your rear plate, they look like rear sensors to detect distance.  I don't think they would work well where they are because they would detect the rear bumper where they are.  This is just a guess.
Relax and enjoy your car.

I just want to thank you guys for enlightening me, and apologize for what I'm sure will be many more questions to come!
In fact, here's another: Are the windows supposed to only open halfway? The switches & motors seem to function properly, and in liiking at the shape of the glass and body, I'm thinking that's all they can open?
Thanks in advance guys.

Thank you, funny you should say that about the title. It took 4 days and 5 trips to the DMV to get it legal, even though it was just a transfer from FL title to FL title. Then, just today, I get a letter from State Farm insurance asking me to clarify the VIN #, or the State might start fining me for no insurance?!
I think the problem is because the VIN is only 10 numbers, while all other vehicles have about 16.

Yes! That is my old car from 2005-2007 or so, it's an IFG kit from Los Angles it replicates a 97 diablo. But previous owners have ruined a few things. The car was immaculate when I had it! Two nice trophies to prove it! I paid 46K back then. Just drove to AL and saw the car bout two months ago, please love that car for me (PLEASE) it has extreme sentimental value! My number is 559-816-0176 if I can ever help with anything I'll try, best of luck, Steve

Steve, You are a God send! So many questions, so glad you found me.
Unfortunately my Mother died today, after being in Hospice for two years, so as sole heir, it is going to take awhile for me to get my life in order.
Trust me, this car will be my baby and I will post you updates on it's progression.
You're right, I believe every owner after you trashed the poor thing! I'm sure the Alabama dealer could have gotten another $10K, if he had just detailed it a little.
Curious as to why it's titled as a 2011, if you had it in 2005? Judging from that dealer, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some hanky panky going on. The genealogy the FL DMV had on it said it was built in Nevada in 2011, sold to a guy in PA, then sold to a guy in FL, named David Scott Blumenthal, who it was still titled to, and sold it to the Alabama dealer???
I WILL be in touch!

Just curious as to how you knew it was yours?

An example of how this poor thing was cared for!

Steve, did the windows used to go all the way down? Today they only open 3, or 4 inches. Also, did it have air conditioning?
I just took delivery on the car not even a week ago. The garage it's currently in, here in FL, is too small to be able to work on it and it's been raining the past 4 days! Can't even see if there's an AC compressor on the motor.
You never should have told me to rely on you for questions, because I'm sure I'm going to be a real PITA, but I really want to make this a #10 again.
Sorry, and thanks in advance, Chris

The small round fog lights in the front we're always a dead giveaway, and the wheel spacing in the rear and front and also the I FG front end shape, then it was a for sure thing when I went to Alabama to see it I knew every inch of that car....
