I finally got my Diablo back togather today! During the F1 weekend here in Austin I broke 2nd gear, I struggled for a couple days trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I couldnt decided if I wanted just to swap in a 3800sc, or something else or finish my reverse rotation LS1. Finally I decided just to replace the weak Fiero 5 speed to my sbc just to get the car going again and finish the LS1.
Took me a couple days to find another trans, ended up having one shipped to me. I got it on tuesday night and opened the box and it the trans was broke. The bell housing was cracked and part of where the shifter cables hook up was broke. So the next day (yesterday) I was back to square one- no working transmission.... I was starting to figure that it just wasnt meant to be- to get my Diablo going again quickly....
Suddenly I had a idea- just tear apart the orginal broken trans with no second gear and the one that got all busted up during shipping and try to build one good one. So yesterday I tore into both of them and 4 hours later I had a good complete trans. This morning I got up and put it all back in the car, by 4:00pm Im driving it around like nothing ever happened....
So now the Diablo is back drivable again I can focus on the LS1. I just gotta remember to take it easy on the Fiero trans for the time being....
