Hinge pair for the front luggage compartment. :)
-
Amazing thanks!
-
String, this is just awesome. Thanks again!
-
Guess I'll post mine
Not the greatest looking, I have to cut everything with a grinder but they do work perfectly though!
the bolts are temporary I'm waiting for the pins to come
I am going to powder coat the parts
-
Nice job Tallon! Throw some paint on and you should be good. Do they have smooth action / movement?
-
Thanks! Yea pretty smooth as long as all the bends are correct but right now the bolts come undone fast so I'll see when I get the binding posts that I wanted to try
-
Heck yeah! That's a lot of work with a grinder but you did a excellent job.
-
Those will look incredible powder coated ! you may want to include a delrin washer between the posts to allow for the powder coat thickness and the potential to bind etc.
great work, i am going to have to try this as well...

Did you have the steel heat-treated to stiffen them up?
Jim
-
I didn't think of that until I made them but since it's low carbon I'm not sure how much they could be hardened anyway by quenching
Maybe it would be worth it to "treat" certain spots?
-
It's not a 70's Buick hood lol. How much could a fiberglass hood possibly weigh?
Mild steel usually has about .4% carbon and cannot be hardened. I've tried against what heat treatment books say but they are defiantly right.
-
I hate to bring this up, but looking at them, isnt the lower piece that would bolt onto the fender area...on upside down?
-
uh.. Maybe... I know I assembled them wrong more than 10x LOL
Edit:
Ok I see, easy fix. I swapped them, it didn't really change functionality since the holes line up either way
