Title: Collapsing the Fiero steering column
Post by: Ccemn1 on May 29, 2022, 11:50:05 AM
Does anyone know how to go about compressing (Collapsing) the Fiero steering column 3 inches, to give you more room in the cockpit?
I read about how to do this a few years ago, but can't remember now?
Thanks in advance.

I think you've lost your mind, or, this is a case of psychological projection, where YOU'RE a litigious person, so you believe everyone else is, also!

Haynes manual in the left hand and hammer in the right.
The steering shaft will have to be removed from the top requiring the prior removal of the U-joint on the bottom.
Follow the instructions (if needed) in the manual.

Drill, measure and cut 3" and repin shaft.

Column must be cut below the ignition switch area and rewelded.

Relocate rearward column mounting holes underdash 3" forward.   LMK of problem or correction in my procedure
