Picked up a 3800 Supercharged from the local junk yard. Saved a couple bucks by pulling it myself!

Welcome to the board and good luck with your project. One thing is for sure is you definitely have your work cut out for you. I make all of the hinges you will need for your project and door handles as well.

Thanks Jayso,
I will keep you and your parts in mind as I continue my build. You're making really good progress on that roadster of yours, can't wait to see it finished!!!

Still trying to play ketchup here!!! Anyway the pictures below are of the motor being torn down. I didn't want to spend a lot on my donor engine beings I had every intention of rebuilding whatever I got.

While waiting for my block and heads to get back from the machine shop, I decided to remove the old iron duke. I also removed the roof section, which I'll probably get a lot of crap for not reinforcing, but I took tons of measurements and plan on wrapping a tube chassis around the tub anyway!!!

Removed the engine cradle, I sent it off to be blasted and powder coated along with the rear spindles and A-arms! Turned out the car was a little rougher than I was hoping!!! Got my block and heads back from the machine shop. The block was dipped and honed otherwise they said everything looked good on it, the bad news was one of my heads was cracked which required me to purchase another one! In an effort to try and catch up with where I am in my build process I will post some more tomorrow as for now I'm off to work!!!

Thought I'd play with some different colors in hopes to figure out what I wanted the finished car to look like. I went in looking for something similar to Plum Crazy Purple, and came out with Dupont Hot Hues Purple Rhapsody. I like it a lot but am curious if I shouldn't just go with the Lamborghini OEM purple?

I wanted to slightly upgrade my engine, nothing major. So I rebuilt the 3800 Supercharger, made myself a 3.4" pulley instead of the 3.8", and milled out what seamed to me a restrictive portion of the supercharger. Not sure if this will help, with my luck I probably hurt the performance a bit, woops!?!? Either way I planned on adding headers and a cold air intake, nothing major as I feel this engine will have plenty enough power for what I plan to use it for! ;)

This is what the engine looks like after I got her back together. I had a guy from work do some pin stripping and what not just for fun and something to look at. Eventually I will probably have a replica engine cover over this anyway!

your Alternator his mounted high you may have re mod the fakie or lower the alt. been there. also if you are using a A/C from aftermarket you need to mod A/C compressor bracket to fit the new one.

Hey another machinist on board! The engine turned out pretty sweet. I'm sure someone here can tell you tricks like the SC mod for the 3.8, if not there's tons of info out there for that engine on Grand Prix forums.
Your friend could paint the badging on your car...  ::beers

Thanks for the heads up, I was wondering about the alternator myself! Right now I just plan on getting this thing back together and running then I'll worry about stuff like that as it presents itself. Someone told me that I would be able to use the 3800 A/C compressor with some different fittings. Is this not true?

YOU BET YA!!! I did most of my research as to how far I could or should go with the 3800 SC on some of the forums you mentioned. I did everything I could without getting carried away. Did I mention the guy who painted that on there only has one eye!!! LOL!!!

Here are my poly bushings and my cradle after getting it back from the powder coater. Learned just how expensive powder coating can get. I had the cradle blasted and coated a satin black which was really affordable but wanted something different for my a arms and spindles. I had them coated a silver vein with a candy purple not thinking it would come in at close to $400.00 for two spindles and two a arms!!! Wishing I had just bought some held wide track a arms, but ya live and you learn. Anyway here is my frame, it's a collaboration of material that was discarded at work so it is an interesting little puzzle, with some shady welding at best!!! I'm removing the entire rear section and starting from scratch. Please disregard the paint can jack stand LOL!!!

I think ,that when you buy a Vintage Air complete kit(Mini) is cheaper and you can bet your Purple, it will work .
also I too changed my pulley 3,4. you'll need a bit smaller belt, it will slip and make noise. I can give you the Good Year belt ## if u need it.

Welcome to the forum! You are wasting NO TIME getting things done, glad to see another SC3800 car being built. As for the AC I'm running into the same issue right now, I've heard the same thing about mating the fiero lines up to 3800 AC compressor. If you find a good source for doing this let me know. Ive read that a company will do this for around 200 bucks and you have to ship them both lines, seems a little costly to me but i may have to go that route.

Eddie, to run the 3.4 pulley did you have to have the ECM reprogramed? I had a 3.2 on mine and had bottom end from hell but had KR (knock retard) at higher RPM's so I ordered a 3.5 and isn't as fast and lost some SC whine but has no KR now. I was just wondering of a good source to have my ECM or PCM reprogramed.

Thanks for the input I will definitely keep that in mind if I can't figure out the 3800 compressor conversion. I think my belt is tight enough but I have yet to start it up to find out. If you don't mind I would love to have the Part# for that belt for when I cross that bridge, which it sounds like I might!!!

Thanks, as for the A/C lines I think I have someone locally I can get to do this, I think!!! I was also curious if there was an alternative for the stock fiero lines as mine are pretty beat up!!! Not really sure when I'll get to that point but when I do I'll let you know! I purchased my ECM and wiring harness through a guy that goes by FieroFlyer out of Canada I sent him absolutely nothing aside from 400 bones and he sent me a reprogrammed ECM with everything I asked for, and the complete plug and play harness! He might be a good one to ask. If you need his info I hopefully can find it!

In one of my trips to the junk yard I was in search of one thing!!! I had read on another forum that certain minivans with 3800 engines were equipped with something special. Stainless braided line, off a Silhouette mini van no less!!!

Sure appears I'm getting a lot done in a little amount of time hehe!!! I'm just being slow at catching up to where I am currently at in my build.

This is where I started cutting around the tub of the car to incorporate some stainless tubing. I spent a lot of time staring at this thing trying to figure out how to go about it,  It's just finding a method to the madness. Here is my rear coilover kit from Arraut/Held that I adapted a set of Monroe shocks to fit. I also got myself a set of stainless headers which I'll probably wrap with black header wrap eventually!

When I dropped the gas tank I contemplated buying a new one after seeing how rusty it was. There is a guy on one of the Fiero sites selling aluminum gas tanks for a fair price. After sticking my phone down inside the tank and not being able to get in touch with this person I decided just to redo the tank I had. After removing the varnished gas inside, I lightly sandblasted most of the heavy rust deposits from the exterior of the tank, primed it with a rust converter, and painted it. All in all I was happy with the results and will be able to use the money I saved on something else. I ordered a ep381 fuel pump which I soon realized isn't a direct fit into the 84 fuel sending unit (unless of course yours comes with the in tank wiring harness) which mine did not. So after doing a little research I was able to use part #WH3000 which is a in tank wiring harness from Tahoe! Pretty snazzy Huh!!!

Got the sending unit finished, little paint, and back in the tank. Ordered some new stainless straps and t nuts from the Fiero store then she will be ready to go back in, whenever that time comes.

This is where I am currently in my build! Attempting to wrap a tube chassis around the Fiero donor. I am using stainless (odd sizes at that) mainly because It's what I'm finding in the scrap bin at work!!! Hopefully I can get somewhere by the end of this weekend. One of my next challenges is gonna be to rebuild the front end, which is in some sad shape! I am planning to purchase a Held widetrack Sport front suspension. If there is anyone out there who currently has one that they are willing to part with. Who knows maybe I can save myself a buck or two or a couple hundred.  ;D If anyone has a better alternative I am all ears! I just don't want to have the same regrets I do about the rear, by not purchasing the wide track kit!  ::beers

Your car will be done by next month at this rate! It's a shame all that stainless will be hidden. How well does it weld to the carbon steel chassis?

*Stainless wire would work just fine. You don't want to use mild carbon steel wire to weld stainless. I'm sure there is an alloy mig wire available for welding mild steel to stainless.

PPE, the S/C belt is tight with OEM length ,but when you rev it up over 2500 she'll start to slip and squeak.
OEM belt # 4060663
3.4 pulley # 4060658  by Gatorback  or keep the oem belt and use larger tensioner pulley
BTW no need to re program ECM, ( I did not need it ,said the guy who re my ECM)

:) LOL I wish!!!  :) what I've posted over the past week or two was a collaboration of about three to three and a half months of work with some odd several years of planning on how to go about it. Not seeing the stainless is somewhat of a shame but it's not like I have any intentions of polishing it or anything. The fact that I won't have to worry about rust is the real bonus, plus I got it all from the scrap bin at work, soooo the price was right!  ;) As for the welding wire Robert is exactly right, I am not a welder by any means but as long as you use stainless wire and Stargon they seam to weld together just fine! The fiero steel is more than just a little on the crummy side, and some places are extremely thin! All in all it will be a lot stronger than what I started with.

I'm excited and feel kinda stupid all at the same time. Once upon a time, before I joined this forum, I had watched elsewhere as several people attempted to replicate the V12 sound with a V6. I ain't no dummie, I knew there was no way I was gonna achieve that sound with just a V6. I searched high and low trying to figure out what it would take to at least give my car that exotic sound. After all a ferrari with a V8 in it puts out a pretty mean tone. But after watching a Youtube video (I believe by Jdinner) I thought I had the answer, OEM Muffler! Makes sense right, I mean I don't expect a miracle or anything but after seeing the shear size of this thing acoustics came to mind and I figured I had myself an answer. Well I looked everywhere online and couldn't find anyone else that had attempted this and figured I'd go forward with my thought. Fast forward to today I received my OEM muffler in the mail and boy are they big! I get on here to gloat about my new purchase and come to find out others have either tried this or just find it comical. I guess the moral to the story is always check here first (LOL!!!) In all honesty though has anyone really had success with either kinda replicating the sound, or the use of an OEM muffler? Either way I'm pretty happy with purchase and can't wait to see what I can do about at least giving my 3800SC a more exotic tone!  ::toothy

I don't think it is a bad idea to try it. Obiously it won't make it sound like a V12 but I would be very interested in the difference it has on the sound. Maybe you could post a YouTube video once you have it installed.

I'm glad that you clarified that you understand there is more to the sound of a Lambo than just a big muffler because this would start hundreds of responses on the science behind the sound that have all been shared before.  :)

I think everyone will agree that certain mufflers will change the sound of any engine and can make a engine sound more exotic (maybe not V12 exotic, but a little more exotic than a factory muffler originally on the donor).  I personally am interested on what a OEM muffler will sound like on a 3800 and if it makes the exhaust notes higher or lower than a flowmaster or motorcycle muffler does (there are videos on YouTube of those).

I think Dustin purchased an OEM muffler from a Gallardo or Murci a while back but I don't recall if he used it on his car and if he did, if he posted anything on how it made his engine note change.

Thanks, for sharing

Chris

Any who, here is what I am working on at the moment. The front end on this car appears to be the worst of the worst. Not sure what exactly to do with it, I have looked for other options but it appears that the Held/Arraut route is the one that makes the most sense. If anyone thinks otherwise please let me know!

So here it is after I removed it from the car. I ended up snapping off several bolts removing this, they will be a real treat to get out I am sure. I actually had to cut part of the a arms off just so I could allow myself enough room to cut the bolts holding the a arm in place off. I'm planning on disassembling the entire front end, having many of the parts blasted and powder coated, then purchasing the Arraut motorsports sport front suspension and new steering rack!

PPE,  looks like your car came from Michigan.  My suggestion would be to check the metal condition of the cross-member to see if it is good enough to be powder coated.  If not, locate one from a southern scrap yard and have it powder coated.  Most of the rest of the rust will be replaced with the Arraute suspension kit.

Get a can of Kroil penetrating oil for the next rusty part. Spray everything down for a couple days and usually the bolts come right out. It's the best stuff I've seen yet.

I wonder if a mustang II suspension would fit without a ton of work. You can get custom track width to your spec with all the suspension components already bolted on.

I'll have to remember Kroil! Is this stuff easy enough to find?

You really got my attention with the Mustang II idea! Is there any reason no one has tried this yet? I believe I could make some type of adapter/bracket at work. I'm curious if the lack of engine in the front would be an issue? I can't see why that would matter if I used coilovers. Is there anyone out there who can tell me why this would or would not work? Thanks for the suggestion!!! ::wave

LOL!!! Our Iowa winters are not much better!

That's kinda the path I was planning on going down. But I'm not really sure what I want to do now. I'll probably just start disassembling what I got see what kinda shape it's in and take it from there. Thanks!!!  ::wave

The companies making the mustang II suspension will probably use whatever spring rate requested.

No kidding I feel compelled to watch that movie now!

I got rotors for a C5 Corvette mainly for there size. I thought they were 13" all around but come to find out they are 12" in the rear. Oh well they are still gonna look way better than the Fiero rotors! I'm thinking about putting the larger rotors in the rear since I plan on going with a 18" front wheel and a 19" rear wheel! Any thoughts?

I have the c5 z06 front rotors which are 14". They still look to small behind a 19" wheel IMO. Maybe put your 13" on the rear and get 14" for the front..?   Either way, like you said, they are way better than the stock fiero rotors!

I like your thinking! that was what I was gonna go with originally but the price and availability of the calipers seemed high and harder to find. Today I did some research (went to the junk yard) and decided to use some more readily available calipers. Impala fronts for the front and Malibu fronts for the rear. Last night I put a fiero 5x100 bolt pattern on my rotors.

YES!!!! More then one, gotta get my hands on this. If you need a copy of the original I have one, it's just in glass.

So yeah, I really had no plans of making more of these. But I suppose if there is enough demand I will figure out a way to do so! My only problem is the material is extremely expensive (stainless) and I have no real good way of making these in a timely manner. I'm currently trying to figure out how I can make these from home, if I were to make these at work it would definitely be frowned upon. With that said the previous picture I posted was just a teaser, I plan on doing a lot more to make it as accurate as possible.

The one I have posted below is a scaled up version from a combination of my model LP670 SV and photographs from the interweb. I made this like everything else I have so far out of scrap material from work. I plan on using the same type mesh that is found inside the real deal and welding a fatter lip on the front. If I can figure out a practical way to make these (I already have upwards of 12hrs in the one I'm making myself) I will gladly make more. I started pricing the material the second I saw an interest and I think I can make it work. If there is a way you could send me dimensions or the actual LP640 replica tip that would only give me a better idea of the actual size rather than trying to scale a picture or model.  Any input on a fair price?

P.S. Rest assure I am a very picky person and if I don't feel these are up to par when finished I will not take anyone's money!!!  ;)

Here are a few pictures of the mesh I am putting inside. Once again scrap material from work, so if I decide to make these it will only look better. I'm further along than this I just don't want to let the cat out of the bag till it's finished. I'm also curious as to what people are expecting of these, are we looking for polished stainless? If so I'll have to do a little research there as well! For mine I'm planning on either going with black powder coat or high heat paint. Do we want the factory style mounting tabs or would you prefer it to be more like a traditional welded on tip?

Digibeam made mine and it is VERY nice, it's as perfect as OEM even has the OEM badge on it, only problem is it is glass and I'm worried about the heat. If your interested and he is ok with me sending it to you I'll drop it in the mail and would gladly pay for a metal copy, doesn't need to be stainless tho.

That would be mighty big of you obviously if he is OK with that! I would most definitely get it back to you in a timely manner! If I am to do these I would probably do them out of stainless just for the sake of doing them out of stainless  ::tongue I think I'm getting a better feel of how I am going to make these better than this first one. Kinda what I'm thinking, it just seemed like it would be a pain to remove these guys without messing up the firewall! So I figured why not use it as a place to mount/hang/cleanup all my wiring. Is there any reason why I shouldn't mount my computer there? Heat/weather?

i am thinking, heat, moisture and EMF from the engine could all cause havoc with the computer, moisture being the biggest issue than anything....the heat, well automotive grade components are designed for heat, but not always the moisture based on their intended mounting position.
just my thoughts...

Thanks Autopro! Very useful thread!!!

I have finally reattached my tub and my rear engine cradle thingamajig!!! So it's kinda starting to look like something again. I am getting to the point, and have probably gone past the point where I desperately need a body so I have something to go off of. I've already been told by others that some of my frame could interfere with the body (I pray to god it doesn't) but if it does I'll just deal with it when that time comes. I still have plenty of reinforcing to do on the rear cradle and haven't totally decided what to do to attach the lower portion of the frame to the tub. At least for now I can roll this thing around the garage in one piece! Right now I'm doin my best to tuck money away for that body, hopefully by spring I'll have it!!!   ::toothy

you might have to use flexible fittings when you do hook up the exhaust,  with the engine moving from torque and the muffler static in the cage.
I can see you have springs which will help a bit but, the contained area in general looks tight so you may experience physical or mechanical contact at the sides and in regards to the exhaust hookup something isnt going to be happy in the middle.
just an observation  :)

Thanks for the input! I was a little curious about that myself. It doesn't look like it but there is about a quarter inch of space all the way around, probably needs to be more! Plus I've just got her tacked for now, I don't even know if it will clear the body yet!  I may just leave it for now until I get my kit, but I'll remember to correct this eventually. As far as routing the exhaust I'm still not exactly sure what I'm gonna do, but I'll get her figured out! Thanks again!  :)

Its all good,  for mine i am going to fabricate (under the engine) 180 degree headers, feeding 2 cats (meow) exit the collectors, then cross over either side above the transaxle with the cats, post of those, will both connect together for equalization, then leaving as 4 individual sends, 2 into Gallardo mufflers (when they arrive) exiting the rear with the bypass valves also connected to the extra 2 sends (before the muffler) with a vacuum control on the bypass. and the whole mess into the final collector/combiner out the tail pipe.
maybe i should draw a picture..... ::tongue

I'm curious which one is a better representation of the actual shape. Kinda what I wanted to hear, I thought the right one looked better myself! Round 2 of questions, is it worth the time and money to add the appropriate part # tag similar to the one below, or  leave it off? I can have a stamp made (and do have a quote) but it's costly, I'll do it if people feel it's necessary!

And lastly should I have a hanger bracket like in the one pictured, or just make a way to weld the tip to  the exhaust pipe? Note: It's probably gonna be a little heavy!
Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: BigPines on February 18, 2014, 10:09:18 AM
I wouldn't bother with the stamp on a part like this where it isn't easily seen but that is just me. Interested to see the final result.

I also wouldn't worry too much about the stamp or the bracket, since all builds are different they will require different mounting options.  Looks like it will be a well made piece, definitely interested in seeing it finished.

It's going to look a little funky when it is laid flat as it runs on an angle.  It is more of a heat shield for the body panel as you can see the exhaust tips inside of the outer.  Could be scaled out for you if I had one correct measurement.  Jim

Without a tag it is a replica, with a tag it is a counterfeit.

Finally got my radiators in! Any advice would be helpful!!!  ;)

I have done this on my Mr2 its not as easy as you first think, so I hope this info will help.
get yourself a MR2 fill neck they are located in the engine bay and are plastic, being your using a V8 u might want a higher pressure cap than the Mr2 one. the filler neck needs to be the highest point of the system to help the air escape, I stress the highest point nothing can be higher no hoses over flows NOTHING... or you will never get flow with the air locks you will have. now the caps you have on your new radiators need the valves removed, usually you can do this by cutting the centre rivet holding the spring and valve in place, in the end you should just have the cap and rubber seal that seals between the filler neck, if you cant do this with the caps you have you can find valveless rad caps on eBay. put those back onto you radiators never to be removed again. now you will need to mount the radiators onto your car, and keep them lower than the filler neck you installed from the Mr2. its up to you which radiator gets the hot water first, on the Mr2 I used the left side, so you will run the the hose that your engine used for the top hose to the top connection of your new radiator, this is also the radiator you use for the fan temp sensor ( you can add two sensors so that the other opens your Bat wings :), the bottom hose of this same radiator will attach to the top hose of your second radiator with a metal pipe, but keep the incline as smooth as possible, I found it was too hard to remove the air lock if you had a large incline and the water wouldn't pass through. now the top hose of your second will run back to your engine. try not to have any hoses or pipes higher than the radiators and keep inclines smooth to avoid air locks. fill up the system, start the car without the radiator cap on, and run to your fans turn on, squeeze hoses to help push the air locks out while its running. turn off the car and let cool, repeat this 3 or 4 times you will see the air bubbles popping at the filler neck, its also best if you cut a soda bottle in half's and use this on your filler neck to get the top up water as high as possible this will help remove the air. hope this helps. :)

I don't mean to high jack the thread but what if I run the engine line to the bottom of the radiator ? And then from the top of the 1st one to the top of the 2nd one. Then from the bottom of the 2nd one back to the engine??

What do u guys think about that??

only thing that comes to mind here is "Gravity"
i believe you will put undue stress on the water pump or you could potentially cause reversion of the flow from water pushing back...water flows down better than up...just my thoughts

Not a problem Solrac, I want to hear this as well. At the same time RT nailed it on the "head" I so badly wanted to put that manufacturers tag on this, but if it becomes a counter fitting issue I'd be toast. I'll save the 500 bones for the stamp and put it towards something that won't get me in trouble!!! ;) Thanks for the input!

Radiators ALWAYS have the water come in the top and go out the bottom.
If you put in an additional electric water pump to help the water flow through the longer piping, connect the water inlet to the electric pump from the bottom of the first radiator and the exit of the electric pump to the top of the second radiator.
Why do you take the water from the bottom of the radiator?  Because if you are low on water, the bottom of the radiator is the last place to go "dry".  The pump will still have water to pull and pump.
Without an additional electric pump between the radiators, the engine water pump will keep the first radiator full and the pipe between the two radiators full.  Any shortage of water will occur at the top of the second radiator.
A temperature sensor for your fans should detect temperature at or before the first radiator.

I tried this, it didn't flow. I also tried top 2 top with a single middle inlet then bottom 2 bottom with a middle out  ( as lambo does on the murcie ) it just wouldn't flow and the air was impossible to remove.

My only concern which I'm not really sure why I'm concerned would be if I sold them. If I sell them with there logo and part # I would assume that could be considered counterfeiting. I know there are a handful of people who are looking for an exhaust tip. To be honest I'm not trying to make these for myself or to make a dime as I'm doing a 670 I'm just trying to contribute. It seems most everyone else on here has there nitch, not that welding is mine but I'm doing what I can :P hopefully this will give me some sort of bartering tool!!!

I have talked with the local Lamborghini dealer to get their perspective and they consider me a "Lamborghini enthusiast" as long as what i create is not for the sole purpose of resale and is designed to replicate for personal use.
he also suggested that I am not encouraged to replicate tags or attempt to "sell" anything replicated with a trademark logo. as that would in fact be a no no....again personal use is fine and selling as a whole product not as parts would be fine as long as i am not in the business of building replicas and selling for profit or self gain.

this being said, i am allowed to trade till the cows come home.... :)

When you said, "Round 2 of questions, is it worth the time and money to add the appropriate part # tag similar to the one below, or  leave it off? I can have a stamp made (and do have a quote) but it's costly, I'll do it if people feel it's necessary!"
I assumed you wanted to make these and sell them.  If you make one for yourself, no problem.  If you intend to make and sell them, then is when you could run into a problem with the use of their logo.
Of course the cost would be ridiculous for you to make just one for yourself.  That's why I waved the "counterfeit" flag.
I have been through all aspects of making EVERYTHING exactly like the original.  It becomes obsessive.  IT ISN'T WORTH IT!
It just adds time to your build and will drive you crazy.  Even if everything is exact the effect will last (maybe) a minute.  Then it is over because the person looking at it will know it isn't a real one.
YOU built it!  Make it really nice if not an exact replica.  That counts more.
Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the work and attention to detail but YOU did it, not Lamborghini.  Make it your build.  Make it your custom Lambo.

Good point RT it will never be a genuine Lamborghini tip so why mark it as one! I'll continue to just make these the way they are and if anyone is willing to purchase or barter I'm open to the idea. These will never be 100% accurate anyway and it's not worth the risk, even in the slightest to get spanked for it! I hear Lamborghini's lawyers spank hard!!!  :LL:

I totally agree in principle when the tags are hidden or on obscure parts.  I'm adding the replica VIN tag and decals to my car because I think they are a easy way to make the car look a little more authentic and finished since they are typically displayed in visible locations when the doors are open.

I agree that I wouldn't added the small tag on the underside of a muffler however the decals are important enough to me that I've finally rounded up a nice replica set for the Murcie.   ::thumbup

Well.. what do you think?  :)  All printed in high quality waterproof vinyl and based on actual measurements of OEM decals and decals on a friends Murcielago.  While these are not 100% perfectly copied from the originals, each decal was a made from a custom made vector file which took many hours to get right.

Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: No Bull on February 18, 2014, 07:28:18 PM
Some of them are laminated and some of them are not because of reflective issues.  For instance, the air bag decals were left non laminated because they are on the visor and dash and could create annoyance if the sun reflected off them.  In total I think we left about seven of them non laminated.  I was told that they would stand up to normal use with no problems and the only thing to avoid would be any type of solvents on the non laminated decals.  Since most of these are in the interior anyhow, I didn't see this as being a big problem since most guys don't use strong solvents on or around interior parts anyhow.

The perfectionist in me keeps going back and tweaking them but I think I'm finally ready to offer a couple sets to others who might be interested.  They are expensive to have printed so I'm only doing a couple sets at a time and the paint tag will have your paint code (Lamborghini or anything else) printed on them plus you'll receive the VIN decal with your VIN number printed in a readable bar code.

I'll post something more formal in the items for sale section but the price is $160 shipped anywhere in the 48 states.  PM me if you are interested and remember that they can take up to 2 weeks to arrive.

Please don't take me the wrong way.  Chris you did a great job on those stickers/labels.  I even have a set for my Diablo that I intend to use.  I got caught up in the exactness syndrome and since I have them, I will use them.  I agree they add that "one last touch" to finish the build.
I just question myself at times for spending so much on things that could be left off and not too many people would even know.  Maybe I have just been working on my build too long and realize I spent a lot of time on stuff that won't make my build run any better or look much different for the unknowing spectator.  If I do it for us guys, sure we know, but the average Joe doesn't know what he's looking at anyway.

Not all of them..  ::toothy  I considered buying some of the less expensive decals from Lamborghini and printing out the more expensive decals with the decals that you can't order and decals that require special printing (VIN decal / paint tag).  I finally threw in the towel and just decided to print them all and avoid any shipping and inventory costs.  I went this way so I could offer them as a complete set and avoid piecing everything together.  I'm working on a instruction sheet that will include pictures of all the locations where these go on the car and this will be included in the decal set.

I can have a stamp made (and do have a quote) but it's costly, I'll do it if people feel it's necessary!

And lastly should I have a hanger bracket like in the one pictured, or just make a way to weld the tip to  the exhaust pipe? Note: It's probably gonna be a little heavy!
Top and side mount brackets would be best surely , why reinvent the wheel - in as much as mounting the tailpipe to the bumper means you can get good visual alignment and then your exhaust pipe exits don't need to be bent quite so accurately and your exhaust system can resonate with your engine and the tailpipe stays nice and calm .

If they're oem based, to fit a g28 I believe they need to be modified in the way that the offset is not as wide. On this forum there are dimensions for oem hinges including modified ones that will work with a g28. No bulls shows why they need to be modified.

I've mentioned this before but the latch for the driver's door works differently than the other doors.  The driver's door will not allow you to lock the door then close it, locking your keys inside.  This is built-in to the latch so check the operation to determine which one to use there.
Those latches will work but require you to mount them inside the inner door skin with just an opening for latch contact. That is what I had to do but I wish I had the other mounting.  That would have made it much easier to construct and to service.

Purple's projectors are OEM parts just sourced from other than Lamborghini. I sure wish I had bought those broken light parts when they were on eBay. I could have copied them. One of my few regrets as far as missed opportunities goes.

I'd be willing to trade you a set if you'd be willing to do the same! I'm using dimensions from Strings drawings so I would assume they are OEM size!

You need to set the lathe up for mass production! People keep asking me for sets of rings, but it's to much work for me to make them on a mill.

I wouldn't want to make those on a mill either! That is why I'm not looking forward to doing the mirror switch! For the power window switch I'm just using the newer style surround to avoid making those!!!  ;)

its a work in progress, but i have made them, i am still trying to make the icons correct, then the next versions will be black with the white icon and rear lit with a green led.
also the appropriate red actuation led will be mounted for the respective buttons that require it.

About your door handles: How are you going to hinge the handles with a flat bottom? and wouldn't the paint adhere better to a roughed surface rather than a polished one?  I do know that you need an etching primer for aluminum prior to paint.  Looking good though.  Jim

Just got back from vacationing in a very tropical, undisclosed place with umbrella drinks and stuff! And on my way back home I had the pleasure to meet with Mr. Schulzea! I can't begin to explain how helpful it is to see someone elses work first hand! He proved to be an all around good guy as I had imagined, equally as nuts and ambitious as I consider myself to be. Hopefully someone here can help me! I'm currently trying to fire my engine for the first time, it's a 3800 SC in a 84 Fiero that was originally carbureted! I purchased my harness from a guy in Canada by the name Fiero Flyer! The problem I'm having is the engine will crank, I'm getting plenty of fuel to the injectors, also pulled a plug to verify there is spark but my injectors just are not pulsing! If anyone knows of something I may have forgotten to hook up or a solution to my problem please help! Thanks Much!!!  ::salute

Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: Purple LP670 SV on May 03, 2014, 09:33:10 PM
The engine and ecm are both from a 98 regal! Everything is working perfectly, if I remove a plug and squirt fuel into the cylinder it fires right up then dies instantly! The fact that my Fiero fuse box is not wired for injection makes me wonder! I am just hoping someone out there has had a similar problem and what there solution was!
Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: String on May 04, 2014, 03:30:56 AM
do you have crankshaft and camshaft sensors - (for engine position), also what air measurement system does the engine use - ( for fuel quantity calculation) , and finally do you have a wiring diagram for the ecu - to determine which pin(s) should be powered by the aforementioned fusebox and of course which should be grounded.
From what you have described so far , covering these points should get towards a running engine. ::study

Purple, you need a noid light to visually verify if the injectors firing. I bought a set of noid lights at Auto Zone a few years back.  If the ecm does not see oil pressure, the injectors will not fire. Verify your oil pressure switch, and the wires. Make sure one side of the switch is getting voltage. Also, make sure you have good grounds!

I was thinking about getting these wheels rota 18x12 they have a big offset so I thought maybe I could get away with some smaller spacers maybe? But seeing your wheels I am liking them too!

They did require larger spacers in the rear but will eventually be replaced with longer rear a arms! I plan to widen the front as well to eliminate any need for spacers! The rims you have picked out look good  :) I have received my Scion quarter glass and it appears that it will work just fine! I appreciate you posting this as it will be a great alternative. Thanks again guys,

No progress on the control arms yet as I've been out of town, but I did make a pit stop at Lamborghini of Sarasota! I'm sure no one here cares all that much as most of you probably can walk down the street and see one first hand! But I for one being from Iowa don't get many opportunities to see these cars, in fact this is the first time I've seen a 640 style car in person! It is a LP650-4 to be exact which is pretty cool, they obviously had several other cars, but with the little time I had this is the one I chose to drool over!  To add fuel to the fire the wife had to call and gloat about a lime green LP640 that passed her on her way home from work the other day! I had no idea there was even one in Iowa! Sorry for my rant enjoy the Pics!!!  ::wave

Wow, been awhile since I've been able to do anything on my car, I was fortunate enough to attend the Concours here in Des Moines Iowa about 3 weeks ago! 100's of some of the nicest Rolls Royce's, Audi's, Ferrari's etc. Thought I'd post a few that people here would be interested in! Sadly the green 640 running around town here did not make it!

With some help, I decided on a mounting location for the battery box, sure seems right at home in the front! And with how scatter brained I am, I thought it would be wise to draw up a to do list to help keep me on track!!!

Just an fyi I have the same steering wheel and it's real easy to use a grant gt adapter (for fiero or any column) with minimum modification to it, need any pointers let me know.
Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: Purple LP670 SV on October 05, 2014, 11:22:52 PM
Thanks! I may need a few, is there any particular adapter or just Grant Gt? My next order of business will be hunting down an accurate airbag cover!
Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: lambo_sam on October 05, 2014, 11:50:40 PM
Just the designated adapter for fiero, that's it! you will just use the main part and it gets installed inside the steering wheel hub with some drilling of 4 holes and nuts and bolts, see pic below,(horn works too!) more pics available on page 19 of my photobucket site with build pics,

However.... Im not sure of the real airbag clearance space, but if you use a replica one Im sure it's no problem, The OEM adapter goes behind the wheel, you may can put the grant adapter behind the wheel but there will be an unattractive gap between wheel and column...just so you know

Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: Purple LP670 SV on December 18, 2014, 10:47:32 PM
Thanks Auto and SchulzeA! I'm really not sure if they are metal or what they are made from! If I had to guess I would assume the real ones are carbon!

Started back on my front control arms. Making some progress on the lowers still need a lot of suspension pieces to get it back on it's wheels!
Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!

are you going to add stiffening to the lower arms?
Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: Purple LP670 SV on December 19, 2014, 09:35:16 AM
There won't be any need for added material to the lowers! They are 1/2" plate stainless with a 12.5° bend in them they will be far stronger then anything out there! Extreme overkill is all I know!  ;)

How heavy are those lower control arms compared to the oem arms?  i made my extended control arms from round tube and some plate.  That 1/2" plate looks like it would be very heavy?  Have you weighed each one for a comparison?

Nice looking control arm though.  Have to love a water jet setup.

Car is coming along nicely

Out of curiosity I went ahead and weighed them, they do weigh more but only 1/2 a pound more. They are also 2" longer so not worried in the slightest! The originals are 9.5lbs and the new are gonna be 10! Thanks for the compliments! Took a 500 ton hydraulic press all it had to bend 12.5° into them, I think they ought to hold my car fairly well!  ;)

Thank you very much! I have no plans to mold my body as of right now, seems there wouldn't be enough interest for the amount of money and time it would take to do so! There are still people out there making quality parts just gotta keep your eyes open! As for where I sourced my panels, that fella is no longer producing them, This is the last full body he made, so I would be little to no help in getting you in contact with him! My apologies!

I rattled off some of my needs and the man delivered as promised, in a more then timely manner! I thank him greatly and hope to buy from again! My only regret is asking him to cut the engine lid in half to save on shipping, but the man had me covered on that one to! He spent extra time to fabricate some aluminum plates that except clekos for putting it all back together!

It will come out right next to the drivers side rocker scoop! A little modifications and she fits like a glove, very happy with the outcome!  :)

I like their wrap that you used and it's a pretty good idea too have it on the rocker, it should get plenty of fresh air.

Also got my radiators plumbed! Trying to finish up some odds and ends to have a running chasis so I can get to some body mounting!

Having some trouble with the engine running rough! After doing some looking I believe I need to do a case relearn, or crank relearn whatever you want to call it! Hoping someone knows of a way to manually do this since I do not have access to a Tech 2 or other tuner to perform this! Thanks!!!

Any concern about road dust being picked up by your air intake being located down by the rocker rather that at a higher location?

Thanks but I'm not to concerned, it comes out above the opening in the rocker scoop! Plus between the filter, eventual body panels, mesh, and constructing an intake box there will be nothing to worry about!

Still working on my a arms and hope to have those done before long. My rear camber is so far off it ain't funny even after installing camber bolts, gonna have to get some camber plates to go along with them to get it where it needs to be!

Seems silly that I would powder coat stainless but I didn't want these pieces to show, just wanted it to all look clean! This is the first time trying powder coating and even though they look okay I did have an issue! I was trying to do a silver vein with purple candy on top, it turned out mostly black with a purple shine to it! Still looks better then it did just not what I was after. Guessing l didn't let the vein cure enough before shooting the candy!

Also got to experience something I never thought I'd get to see in person, my dream car, an LP670 in all it's glory! All I can say is WOW!!! And the guy on the floor was more then cool with me taking pics and drooling over it for close to an hour! Congrats, Purple on the new mill.  I'll trade you even up for my Enco ::sun ::thumbup.  I installed the Held front suspension on my Diablo replica because of the need to be able to lower the body with the adjustable coil overs.  Hope that you do not have the same need.  Also, when you grind down the lugs on the spindle to mount your caliper adapter plate, the lugs need to be 90 degrees to the spindle centerline otherwise the caliper will be out of alignment with the rotor.  I am going to have to disassemble my front spindles and mill my lugs flat.  I didn't realize this until I assembled the brakes.   See the problem in the pic.  Jim

Thanks for the offer, but after moving a mill by myself no matter how good of a trade I'd have to decline, simply to not have to move it again lol!

I had some caliper brackets made up at work but I'm almost positive I'll be altering them or the spindle in some way. I still need to get a phase converter for that mill so it will be a little while till I get to that!

In the mean time I'm sick of not seeing progress aesthetically, so I'm gonna try and get some of my body panels rough mounted so I can at least take them off and put them back with some repeatability! I've been upset with myself for using a Fiero and acquiring a Watson body as opposed to using the NAERC plans! So I printed them off and started comparing what I had to what they had, I decided the two best things I could take from the NAERC plans were the front bumper support and the side ladders. Here is the start of my rendition of a Fiero/NAERC hybrid thingy!  ::tongue this is just the start of it, just tacked, no gussets, and whatever else, but I'm liking it so far and it's really starting to line up like it should!

It's hard to tell from pictures, but I think that the lower A-arms have to be reinforced a bit. The spring and sway bar's toe link connect to the middle of the lower A-arm, hence the latter will be exposed to increased impact forces trying to bend it. Just my .02

Nice build! I don't know if anybody mentioned it yet, but you guys were taking about phase converters for your heavy home machinery...

Don't do it.

Get yourselves some VFD's (Variable Frequency Drive)... WAAAAAYYYYYY easier to work with, motors run cooler and you can do spindle speed adjusts electronically. I use one on my mill, and one on my lathe to run 220 3-phase off of 220 single phase.

You will NEVER look at a phase converter again.

Not sure if it's caused by the angle these photos were shot, but looks like the front wheels are fairly close to the large square tubes along both sides of the bonnet? Do they provide enough free space while going at high-speed cornering (wheels simultaneously turn and go up)?

In the pics below the suspension is compressed more then it ever will be and it's still capable of utilizing all of it's turning radius.

Just a question, but why didn't you use the 670 style throttlebodies instead of the older Murcielago ones? I know you had an OEM TB you molded yours from, but the actual SV style are available on Ebay for about $45 each. I'm making an updated engine cover myself, and am using the real throttle bodies on it. I like my old cover, but noticed after 8 years of engine heat the plastic cast TB's are starting to crack in different places, and the paint is chipping off as well. Using real TB's should eliminate that problem, plus there is no chance that it could ever look like a fake cover with the real TB's. Just a question :)

I guess I was unaware of the real throttle bodies being available so cheap, I've got 3 Murci ones I've had for awhile and since I couldn't find another at a price I was willing to pay I just made one! Same for the plenum, no way was I gonna buy another, plus I can hang a set on my wall now!  ::wave as far as the look I'm not sure anyone, unless they know the exact differences between a 670 and 640, will have a clue they should be any different.

Spent the past week getting my car running again after 10+ months of sitting idle, buttoning up some loose ends to get it running 100% before I move forward! Thing is loud and obnoxious so I figured I'd finish welding and sealing up my exhaust! Got it all header wrapped and ready to go back in! Very interested in hearing the Murci muffler hooked to this thing, still need to tighten up my rockers and check a couple other minor things to get her running smooth!!!  ::wave

Apparently letting it sit as long as I did was not the best of ideas! I tore down the top half and 6 of 12 lifters were a bit spongy so I took them apart and pumped them up manually! I also was more than glad I did this cause I noticed my gasket had failed and was leaking coolant back into the engine! Rumer has it it's a fairly common issue with these and a dab of JB Weld and 2 dimes is the perfect remedy!  ;)

The top of the cover resting on top of the engine is about an inch below level with the bottom of the window opening, I plan to mount mine to a piece of sheet metal and have about an 1 1/2 clearance between the bottom and the actual engine. It should clear the deck lid no problem.

In order to properly space my panels I needed to mount some latches. I came up with these backer brackets that will keep the latch open enough to remain functional while giving me something to weld an inner door frame to. This should keep everything from hinge to latch nice and solid when finished!

Food for thought:  This pictured door inner latch reinforcement adds 360 degree support and then can be welded to the inner door frame for extra strength.

I plan to pull it apart and reinforce the entire thing, this bumper had what should be very minimal damage but it shows all over as it was very thin! I will wait till I'm further along so I can make slight changes to get it closer to the 670!

Being as picky as I can be at times I wanted aluminum uprights for my wing, I knew I wasn't gonna be able to get them made the way I wanted them so I started making them myself! I started by cutting an MDF template, roughed them out of a piece I had lying around on the bridgeport, milled them to proper thickness, and then trimmed them up with a trim router! Lots of setups and time went into the making of these  :o

I decided it was time to get rid of these ridiculous spacers I was using to mock up the body and get things done properly. I started by making some rear strut to knuckle adapters. Although not ideal I had some large chunks of aluminum laying around which is what I used to make these.
Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: Purple LP670 SV on April 04, 2018, 07:25:47 PM
Next up was lengthening the lower arms. I made some stainless extensions to bolt through the existing holes while moving the ball joints to there preferred location, I may weld to add strength or change this thought in the future as I'm not 100% convinced this was the best way to go about it. I also made some spacers from thick walled tubing to move the rear linkage out the desired distance and eliminate some of the bump steer.
Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: Purple LP670 SV on April 05, 2018, 05:48:12 PM
Lengthening my axles was another fun task but required to eliminate those wheel adapters. I cut the axles fish mouthed some tubing to get some more strength from my welds, placed the sleeve over the axle with a spacer to keep them spaced properly. I then tacked it all together while cutting 2 keyway on opposite sides of the shaft at least a quarter inch into the shaft. I then welded both ends and keyways to create a strong axle.

Got my latches for the front hood and rear engine bonnet! I was only able to find one striker so I had to make one for the rear myself! I was able to turn an old bolt using my knee mill and a boring bar to the correct diameter, I then used a piece of square tubing and washers to create one!

Thanks Auto, I made several efforts to mount my hinges with zero luck! I either couldn't get the hinge pin high enough, or forward enough to attach to the doors and give the doors the swing they needed! I finally referenced some OEM hinges from AutoPro and realized how far off the hinges I acquired are, the pins etc. are amazing and super tight so I wanted to keep them similar but make some changes. Below are pics of what I had and how they compare to OEM!

Making these hinges required making a lot of chips, I started with a block of aluminum and started carving away till I had something that better resembles the OEM shape and size!

Not gonna lie I spent this much time on carving these out I had to make them look legit! Not exactly OEM but much closer than what I had, I decided to put the grooves in them and welded up the slots in the other half of the hinge and milled the slots in the correct orientation!  ::bounce

I got those from Carlos also and they worked great.  All the other ones I tried to make work never worked properly but these did right out of the box.  Just remember to place the hinged point as close to the roof as possible so the hatch doesn't hit the roof edge when you open it.

Thanks for the advice Auto, I went ahead and welded those up as they were sent to me as individual parts, I then hit them with some black paint to prevent them from rusting. I also broke out the gas shocks and other pieces to check fitment.

After assembling the rear lid components I focused on getting the front lid corrected. I had two inner hoods, one by John Watson (in the white) and another I aquired from Mr. Butler (in the blue). The Watson hood is of impecable quality and tough to beat, the issue is it had been altered to use the MR2 hinges, the other had the OEM mounts so I made the decision to graft the one to the other.

While at it I decided it was time to get rid of the Fiero column, not sure I'll be wiring it immediately. I first removed the steering column, then the support as I will make my own. If you notice the Sebring column is splined while the Fiero is not. I simply cut the end off the Fiero column, ground flats on the spline for a nice snug fit, then welded it in place. So far so good!

I had the same feelings about the Fiero airbox.  I ended up installing the airbox from a Grand Prix.  This was made possible due the distance that the windshield moves forward to the Aventador position.  I separated the blower motor section from the airbox and installed the resulting two parts.  I created a box to house the airbox forward of the oem location.

You can see the full installation starting about halfway down page 9 of my build thread on PFF:

I do love the way Neil utilized the Grand Prize air box. I wanted to leave my options open so I used a piece of aluminum plate I got for next to nothing! I cut apart the Fiero airbox flange and transferred it to a piece of MDF to use as a template while cutting the aluminum.

I'm going to try to get the fiero system to work with the 3800sc engine.  there is some good info on pennocks on how to do this.

If that fails, Matt at Old Air states the smallest evap. they have is, Box is 12’x12’x8.5”deep.
Vintage Air smallest box is bigger. 19x9x7.3

what are the measurements for the Fiero evap box?
Title: Re: Purple People Eater LP670 SV Build!!!
Post by: Purple LP670 SV on October 11, 2018, 10:32:43 PM
I can't remember the Fiero box but wanna say it was well over 20" in length and around 12" deep! The Vintage Air is 7.3 deep which is a huge improvement. You may be able to utilize the Fiero AC as you are working with a G28 body. Mine is from Watson and requires me to push everything closer to the front similar to OEM. I may do like Neil in the future just wanted to leave my options open.

I've spent the last few days working to make more clearance towards the front of my chassis so I could drop the front of the windshield and fenders an inch! With doing so I've lost some headroom. I also started aligning my panels which is showing I may get to raise the rear of the roof an inch or so and gain back what I have lost. So far so good, I can already tell the rear quarter panels are gonna be a challenge!

Very nice work Purple, you really made some good progress.  Fitting the body is not an easy thing, every little movement in one panel affects the rest of the car.  Just keep playing with it until you are satisfied with all the panel fitments.

Working on the driver's side has been a real pain, I believe most of my issues are contained in the rear quarter panel. I've also struggled with the rocker and scoop that I previously assembled awhile back. Positive I'll be make adjustments to it as it's currently to long.

I just moved my suspension on the passenger side because it was 1/16 of an inch off.  Would have caused drivability issues down the road. Doing some panel fitting myself, and what a PITA.

With some cad help from Pedro along with the badge Dustin loaned me I was able to create my firing order badge. I may be a bit biased but I think these turned out better than OEM!  ::beers

Unfortunately I do not have plans to make more. I can still do the caps, it may be awhile before I can do one as I don't have any resin at this time. I will let you know when I get more, the short shelf life makes it tough to purchase for 1 item.

Finally got the passenger side sitting pretty, going to start creating as many mounting points as possible to keep everything where I want! Driver's side is loosely fitted once this side is reinforced I will replicate it on the driver's side!

Gorgeous!!

Thank you Sir!

I made some blocks to weld to my existing frame with tapped holes so I can keep these rocker supports removable.

No inner structure but with the latch and hinge in place I have 1 door that goes up like it should!

Inner frame on the passenger door is mostly complete and ready to be fiberglassed to the door. This has given the door lots of strength, should be rock solid once glassed in and the hinge reinforced (some of the flex appears to be in the hinge support)

Nice job on that frame, just make sure that there is no air gap between the frame and the fiberglass where the hinge and door latch go.  Fill those areas with Kitty Hair or Duraglass so that it will be rock solid.

I'm using half inch round bar. With the door gasket installed it wanted to push the upper portion of the door away so I screwed the inner door as tight as I wanted it to be in the end before shaping the inner structure, this way once the screws are removed it should create a tight seal every time I close the door.

Warmed up enough I could work on the car a bit, so many things are gonna need slight adjustments but it's time to move forward. I got my engine hatch hinges mounted there is a slight interference at the roof line but shouldn't be terribly hard to correct. Hatch goes up and down and even latches nicely. Time to get the struts located.

Been awhile since I've touched the car, had a rough go with our Pupper dog passing along with travel. I was able to get my driver side door frame welded up and fitting nicely, quickly remembered why I put it off after doing the first one :LL: NOT FUN! While I was at it I reinforced behind it with kitty hair, I will then glass over it and it should be darn strong!!! Wife bought one of those cricket things and I couldn't help but try my hand at some powder coating  ;)

Passenger side now has glass strand behind it and 2 layers of glass securing the frame to the door! Gonna see if I can't get the struts mounted this weekend. I'm using the McMaster reducible force struts part #6465K6 if any one is interested, they appear to be perfect for this application. Right around $60 a piece they are not the cheapest but they are a very excellent quality strut and should last a long time.

So I received my McMaster reducible force shocks and boy are they nice! Worth every penny as far as quality, I also ordered some stainless standoffs to mount the struts near the hinge. So far everything functions as it should, obviously the struts are pretty hard to close at the moment, it will be awhile before I can reduce them to where I want them.

Pulled out the OEM door lock actuators I got awhile back. Love it when things like this fall in place as they should.

Keep up the good works Purple! I want to add I have said this before and I will say it again, for you and those that have reduceable shocks, Don't reduce them at all!!, These doors get really heavy once fully completed, and these
shock will eventually wear as time goes on.

Agree with Lambo_Sam, the completed doors get extremely heavy.

If you reduce the force of the shock too much for use in the doors once they are complete, don't toss them out.  They may be re-purposed for use on the engine cover.

Thanks for looking out fellas, I have no intention of reducing the shocks till I'm completely finished. Maybe prior to paint I might reduce them closer to optimal force but will not completely reduce till finished!

For the window regulator I decided to cut down regulators from a Chrysler Town and Country. I started by cutting the tracks nearly in half, I relocated the lower wheels, mounts, and features higher up so they would fit within the doors. I drilled the spotwelds, placed pop rivets and tack welded where needed. I also gave each track a bend to match the door and glass.
