Title: chassis question

Hello all, I am still interested in getting my vt, but it all hinges on if I can-or if at all possible to fabricate a trailer hitch to pull a small trailer for my business that I want to start. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thx a bunch.

You'll need to add more info. What do you consider a small trailer? Ball hitch? Just for personal curiosity, why do you have a trailer with no hitch!?

Do you have a custom tube chassis? Fiero?

Don't have the car yet, I'm still in the search phase. Will the fiero base make it easier and/or more stable.

You have to figure out what your going to use, then you will still have to modify it to clear the new body. Oh! I was totally confused. I certainly wouldn't pull a trailer with a stretched fiero chassis unless you do a lot of extra frame bracing. A tube chassis is the way to go. You could weld up a Reese hitch to be hidden behind the license plate. Then just make the plate hinge down when you need to access the hitch.

Fascar,
   Depending on your tubeframe, it can be done and I once did this on a Countach. However, you have two big problems to overcome. First, unlike a typical tow vehicle like a pick-up, the ball has to be mounted way above the framerail in order for your trailer to tow level. This makes for some interesting engineering and geometry. Second, you have two monster exhausts aimed right at your trailer that are trying to melt it. I wish you the best but I think your bigger concern is trying to start a new business and build one of these cars at the same time.

Ty mx for your input. First I would like to find a partial if possible, then modify it from there. The business aspect I have been working on for quite some time. Most prospects want to see the finished product, the attraction aspect. Which is understandable.

Sounds like a perfect gig, driving around in a Diablo all day and waving at people. I would like to have submitted a job application. Darn the beancounters for wanting something as trivial as proof of concept.
