Post by: minihawn on July 19, 2015, 11:29:02 AM
Hey guys you may have seen me around the forms if not nice to meet you. I have been looking for Diablo for quite a while and I finally saved up the cash to buy one it's incomplete but here it is I'm a new builder never done one of these cars before and as you can see from the pictures I definitely have my work cut out for me but I think that it's a good start I'm all open for suggestions The body is not mounted permanently yet

Now the fun begins!  LOL
Glad to see you got it far enough forward on the trailer for proper trailer tongue weight but if you put it on the trailer backwards, it will be easier to balance.  (Just a tip.)
All the best to you on your build.

Title: ::HELP WITH MY DIABLO::
Post by: minihawn on July 19, 2015, 08:00:59 PM
Hey guys! I have some questions . This is my first build my work has a load me some free time to start a build(check other post for pix) I have studied kit cars the last 4 years but never owed one. I'm a mug welder and a mechanic but that's where my skills end lol. Please no "dumbass" remarks just real insightful replays  please. Can get more info and pictures and video if needed. Right now the body is soft mounted however I have a question my doors are not hinged and I'm wondering if it's possible for me to start hinging the doors without permanently mounting the body first? Also min Columbus Ohio if there is anyone close thanks!

Body need to be secure before you do your hinges.

I can't see any door hinge support at all in your picture.  This is a must.  Your hinge support area needs to be properly located and strong.  The dimensions on the following pic are approximately close and are from the red chassis.  The body will then be positioned where it will be permanently attached (later) and securely fastened (screwed/bolted).  The reason is that once the door is attached and positioned, you will only be able to make minor adjustments when the body is permanently attached.  Most all of the mechanical work, wiring, trunk lid hinges, and engine cover hinges and latches etc. have to be done also prior to bonding the body.

minihawn…
If you haven't already, check out my videos at youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/my_videos?o=U (https://www.youtube.com/my_videos?o=U)

There is one there that shows you where to mount your body by bolting it to the chassis instead of bonding.  This may not be for everyone but see if it is for you.  My body is made in pieces, not a singular shell which might be different than yours but you may find it useful.

Before you get that body mounted make sure your motor is pristine and the ac/heater works
