Title: Front Shock Bushings
Post by: diablodoc on November 18, 2015, 03:56:30 PM
I'm building a Diablo Roadster using a replica frame.  I have 400 pound springs on the front and dual 250 pound springs on the rear.  The bushings on the rear shocks seem to be fine but the fronts appear to be distorting some after just sitting in the garage for the last year.  And the only weight is from the frame itself and the body (body not permanently mounted so is off and on).  Anyone had an issue with wearing out shock bushings quickly on this type of setup?

Yes! You will need to make new shock bushings out of UHMW.  Mine wore out by sitting on a trailer and towing it for 8 hours.

Thanks Jim.  I've used UHMW for all my suspension bushings and on my transaxle mount so it makes sense to me to use them on the shocks as well.  Looks like I'm going back to the lathe.
