Hi guys, thanks for the help with the chassis.
On my present replica I am putting a 2007 Grand Prix Gt 3800 series III SC engine in my 1988 fiero cradle.
I want to use all the wiring and computer from the Grand Prix.
However, I am told if I mate the 3800 series III to the manual 1988 Fiero 5 speed transmission that there will be issues with the computer even though it is the computer that goes with it, and that the issues are mostly because I would not be using the automatic it is presently mated to???
I'm not sure if all those details are presently on this site, but if so could someone please help me and direct me so I can make the right decision on how to proceed as far as using the manual or keeping the existing automatic which I prefer not to keep.
Thanks again, and as always, take care.

Have you checked out Pennock's Fiero Forum? There is a vast amount of info there including 3800 engine swaps.

My advice is use a G6 or F23 6 speed instead of the manual from the Fiero. Those are becoming rare. expensive and not a lot of aftermarket support anyways where as those tranmissions I just listed would be better suited. plus theres a few write ups on how to do them to a 3800 or LS4. I think Coop got his for $500 brand new! I'm sure you can get one cheaper.

I have a NAERC 60 built on a NAERC replica chaise with a audi 5000 transmission and a 3800 SC and I can't wait to get rid of this junk.
Just my humble opinion... I am thinking about dropping a LSx engine. All of the replica's I have had through the years have had a SBC350 in them with different issues that I was able to get resolved but this 3800 is whole another story with ton of issues
Again just my humble opinion

You might consider having your pcm reprogrammed. Contact Wester's Garage.

If you have the room to put in an LS V8 it will be easier simply because there is so much aftermarket support for those engines. If you want to go with a longitudinal installation I make adapters to use the LS engines with the Audi and Porsche transmissions.
