I'm guessing you're referring to a Roadster?
I just bought an aftermarket LED item, tied in a third brake light flasher, and mounted it to the rear bonnet lid.

IKR, you can save yourself a lot of hassle by getting a housing off of a 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan GLS.  It fits perfectly under the "bump" on the removable roof and the good news is that the VW third brake light that goes in it looks almost identical to the Lambo unit.  I got mine brand new at Parts.com for $46.45 shipped.
