Thank you very much Rod and Peggy!

Yesterday I painted the inside of my doors and I think I will leave them like this for a couple of days before I paint the outside.  After that I will probably hang them on the car next week.  On the original car the black part is actually a matte finish but I decided to make it glossy on mine and I think it looks pretty good.  I can always make it matte if I decide to down the road.

First I shot the black basecoat and after it dried I masked it up and then shot the gray.  After it all dried I took the masking off the black area and sprayed the clear over the whole thing.

Here they are before the clearcoat

During the week I will start painting the rest of the parts and then color sand and polish the clear next week.

And finally we have paint  ::rocker  I originally wanted to paint it on Saturday but it was pretty hot so yesterday I took of work early and went home to paint it.  I used PPG Global basecoat clearcoat system and PPG DCU2021 Concept clear.  I love this clear as it goes on smooth and thick so it gives you enough buildup for when you wet sand and polish.

Next before painting the car I had to make a piece for the headliner to attach to on the inside of the car.  I laid some plastic on the roof of the car and made a fiberglass piece, this way it has the same curvature of the roof for when I cover it with the headliner material.

This is just a picture of doing the 600 wet block sanding which was the final step before paint.

Well it's time for another update.  The past week was spent wet sanding prepping the body for paint and also finishing building the spray booth.  I forgot to take a picture of it with all the filters installed but you get the idea.

wow nice Pedro
one thing you Muricans, how they let you to paint in your garage ? does your Municipal office not stopping you? or your neighbor ? I guess your laws are much easy there  then up here  North. I see on Velocity Channel too some of  the Texas fab shop they paint right in the middle of mechanical shop. no booth , door wide open . Please don't get offended ,I'm just comparing US vs Canada on this , for instance if you have a small unit and paint and if they catch you with out certified spray booth =shuts you and $$ penalty. no more biz.
good luck Pedro I'm sure you painted  few already , so it should a breeze .

Lucky for me I am in Mexico and there isn't much regulation down there as far as doing work from your home.  Now if I was in California then it would be the same as Canada since we have very strict rule here.  On the booth I will have filters on the exhaust side so hopefully they will do a good enough job as to not have too much overspray going outside.

I have painted quite a few cars Eddie, I used to work for General Dynamics back in the day painting the MD-11 aircraft and after that I went to work at one of the Cadillac dealership in San Diego painting cars.  I've always loved to paint, it's my favorite part of the whole process.

@ Sam

I ignore my wife and kids for a couple hours a day, that is how I can get anything done jajaja ::tongue

Wow Pedro, I can not believe how far you have made it so quickly, What a fantastic job bro! You are really getting this thing done fast! and doing it right! I had not been on here in a short while, and now I come back on here and see your pics just blew my mind...lol

Jajajaja  :LL: I wouldn't call it fast since it has been quite a few years since I started.  Although I can finally say that I will finish the car this year.  Thanks for the support buddy.  ::beers

I say quickly because it took me almost 8 years to finish my 6.0...lol, And your car is way more complicated than mine in just the few years it took you to get so far along and almost done , especially dealing with work life, family life and personal life. Big Cheers and props bro!

Pedro: Don't you want "filtered air" to be pulled into your spray booth?
01

Yes of course my friend.  I will place filters on both sides of the fan that will blow the air into the booth.  Once I am further along with the installation of the fan I will add more pictures.  The fan is a 20" box fan and at Home Depot they sell furnace filters that are the exact same 20"x20" size.  These are the ones I am planning on using.
