I already have the mold ready to make the headlight lenses in acrylic, if anyone is interested??
I have to make a minimum order of 10 sets,,,
each set price is 80 euros.
would be nice to make a joint purchase for this good price

$109 usd is an awesome price compared to what I paid for the glass, I'd buy if I didn't already have them
and in my opinion they don't need to be exactly oem as long as they have sides
oem is a plus

Are these OEM spec? What is the source of the mold? What it the estimated delivery once everyone pays?

hi, if it is equal to oem,
a friend left a game to make the mold, I think were FGP.composites.
Approx 15 days, when everyone pays.

I don't need a set as I bought the glass ones from bierhansel.
But after buying the engine hatch hinges and seeing the incredible work. I am in for a set for sure as well...

Actually, I will take two sets... No questions.

Title: Re: Plastic murice head light lenses wanted
Post by: Tallon on July 17, 2014, 11:19:18 AM
you have to trim the fender some and make it fit
ever notice the opening doesn't go to the body line like oem
so it's for the best :)
Title: Re: Plastic murice head light lenses wanted
Post by: Fatboyslim on July 17, 2014, 01:49:19 PM
ok i understand, but looking at the exterior edgeline of the lens runs directly on top of the bodyline / curve of the fender and any cuts or modification will directly effect the bodyline of the fender. not much room to modify at all, do you have any pics one already done? im just worried that i will mess up the look of the front end  :-[ for G28 do you think its better to stick with a mark clapp flat lens and trim to fit? Thanks

I believe there is some pics in usmcbutler's build diary with the glass version installed
A lot of people go for the flat lens but they usually have a black outline around it where it mounts. It all depends if you're happy with how it looks in your build, also your budget and patience I guess.

Not sure what you mean by the edge of the lens, the base of the lens goes below the body. In that picture he posted it's a negative (mould) of the lens or it's upside down, however you want to look at it.

I have mounted the OEM lens in my G28 fenders, you will have to cut out to the body line on outside edge and on the driver side relocate the body line as it is a bit off
It's worth the effort and by far the finished product will visually speak for itself

I have also just sent full payment for two sets of headlamp lens...

ok you convinced me, i will just reshape the body line ( move it over) its got to be a huge improvement over the flat lens look dontcha think? i never really cared for  the flat lens look anyway, doesnt look quite right does it? dont they scratch / flex real easy? count me in for two, lets go for it.  ::thumbup Thanks

Another reason I am getting two sets, even though I have a glass set is the possibility of losing a lens to a rock or stone or something else that would leave me without a spare.... Lexan isn't going to break... Even if it got scratched you can polish it out quite well....
Once the glass breaks.... It's done.... Just saying

This post is for everyone who paid the full amount for their lenses.
115$ was the price stated.
This site is mainly based for the USA,  I know I cant be the only guy who assumed this was a US dollar figure, even more so that it was stated with the Euro price converted to US.
I have paid the 57.50US deposit and quoted 110 shipping. Total= 225
Less deposit = 167.50
Now I asked to pay in Euro
that works out to be 300US a set, which is ridiculous for plastic lenses

I ended up paying 110 euro which is about $150 for shipping as well.  I bought two sets though and was able to split the shipping cost so it wasn't as bad.  Also, it seems pretty hard to come by lenses with sides like this so it's probably worth it.

Glass lenses were $400 or more USD (shipped from europe) but I guess he gets to set the price for a rare part. Main downside is how far away these guys are :(

[You can't change the price after a deposit has been paid, its the sellers responsible   to list the currency,if none is listed its automatic as a US dollar, if you want to make money as a seller you have to expect losses when you make mistakes, or this whole industry will be a  bunch of Rob lp640

Did he ask you to pay 115 euros for your set? He charged me $115 USD per set.  I think he was just requesting the shipping in euros.  Also, he did mention somewhere that the price was $115 plus shipping.

Two sets are $390.00 with shipping not counting my exchange fees which added a good sum from Canadian funds.
It might have made more sense to have all of the lens shipped to one person, then they ship them all out from the USA ....
Though then it would be the job of that person to follow through but in the long run I believe it would be cheaper

How is it that there was a picture shown of the lens complete yet they are not complete?
This is far too long after paying up front for what was promised.
If they are not "polished" offer a refund or discount and send them anyways.

I hope this picture is a little better.
The lenses are not bad, they fit good and the shape is also very good, the plexi glass used is 3mm thick but I would have thought it would be more solid with no flex at all but this could be the type of plexi that was used,
There are a few ripples on the lense but passable, the cut edge could have been better or left with over size for the customer to trim as it comes close to under size in some places, they polish up very well using Autosol plastic cleaner.
The price was reasonable for the product- 8 / 10 score

Cool. That is some fun stuff. You could put it on all the lines of your car and have a TRON Murcie. ;)

It's ment to be white, I bought two sets to see if the first seller was having a lend of me, but it turns out the white EL wire has a blue look to it but the photo makes it look a lot bluer than it really is.
I think it's best if I leave it at the lights :) it's funny you find yourself holding it in 100 different places on the car,
It's looks really good along the edge of the air flaps, edge of front grills, bottom edge of the scuff plates, side skirt lower outer edge, side skirt air dam edge and around insert, and along top of the rear defuser where the crease is... Oh it would also work along the back edge of the engine cover glass as it would glow through to the front edge ; )

None, it was perfect in some places a little thin in others, but I guess everyone's light bases will be different.

Here's the El wire at night, it looks kinda weird : )
