I have been doing a lot research for an LCD gauge cluster and infotainment system. I have the solution for an inexpensive custom high tech gauge cluster, and infotainment. There are many blue tooth enabled OBD2 scan tool ALDL interfaces. I am going to use a tablet pc for my gauges, there are many window and android apps available to customize a dash cluster with real time data, via your blue tooth aldl interface. Infotainment system you create is only limited on your imagination. A wifi and 3g enabled tablet will give you all the internet aps, and access you will ever need. Absolute AVH-1100AN Car Stereo w/ Android Tablet - CES 2012 First Look! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ps2G_0jr30#ws)
There are blue tooth car audio amplifiers. RE Audio Bluetooth Car Amplifier | CES 2013 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsG0qEtowiQ#ws)
What do you guys think?

I dont see any gauge cluster?

I will do a custom install tablet PC, where the gauge cluster is located. I think a 7" or 10" pad will work great. I will use a mounting dock, and permanently install so only the screen will be seen, and will have constant power supply. I will use a larger tablet PC for the center console infotainment.
I just found a wireless Heads Up Display HUD with TPM tire pressure monitor on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-OBD-2-II-HUD-Head-Up-Display-Wireless-Tire-Pressure-Monitoring-System-/251341747145?pt=US_Car_Alarms_Security_Systems&hash=item3a8522b3c9#ht_4541wt_954 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-OBD-2-II-HUD-Head-Up-Display-Wireless-Tire-Pressure-Monitoring-System-/251341747145?pt=US_Car_Alarms_Security_Systems&hash=item3a8522b3c9#ht_4541wt_954)

Infotainment wallpaper. SWEET!!!!

You have to use a modern power train for obd2
So no fiero or mr2 engines
Maybe a later 3800sc or ls4
-
1996 and newer are OBD2.

This is maybe a solution for older cars like fiero.

So I went ahead and ordered one of these bluetooth ODBII ELM327 scan tools. I figured for $15 bucks including the app couldnt go wrong until I can get my analog gauges going. I will update soon as it comes in and I have a chance to test it. This is also capatable with Apple products not just Android

I'm wanting to put a tablet in the center of the dash in place of the radio. The LCD display that I had on my radio for the back up camera was impossible to see in the direct sunlight of my roadster. My 10" iPad is too big to fit there. I've found sunlight readable touch displays and I think that I would need a car PC to do everything that I want. I'll just wait until I can find a system that is designed for a car. I want to be able to read my gauges, control the radio and heater, and have a back up camera that I can read.

If you have an Apple device, I would be interested in feedback on how you like this unit.

Ok, so my bluetooth ODB2 reader came in and works GREAT with a android phone or android tablet. The bluetooth ODB2 reader does NOT work with apple devices for some reason the bluetooth on the iPhone or iPad does not find the Bluetooth. So with that being said depending on what device you are using you will need the WiFi ODB2 reader if you are using Apple devices and the Bluetooth or WiFi for android devices. Here are a couple screen shots from my phone.
I plan on going with a android tablet for my gauges, especially since you can find them in a wide variety of sizes and they are hundreds cheaper then Apple products.

Sweet. The torque app seems to be popular. I am still trying to find an app with best, coolest gauges. ::thumbup

Well I finally made some headway. I found a tablet that fits the opening of the shark mouth for the Murci fairly close, it was the 7" 2013 Nexus 7, ordered the cheap bluetooth reader off eBay, and installed the TorquePro App and this is what I have.
I ordered the 2013 nexus vs the 2012 nexus, because the 2013 has a magnet in the back that attaches to a wireless charger (available from google https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_Wireless_Charger?id=nexus_wireless_charger&hl=en (https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_Wireless_Charger?id=nexus_wireless_charger&hl=en)) so this way all I have to do is set it in the shark mouth and the charger/magnet will hold it in place and I can always pull it out if needed.
