Hey guys I got a set of mirrors yesterday and thought I should start a thread about mirrors. Maybe some of you guys can show how you are making them and what parts you are using. Here are some pictures of the originals and if anyone needs more detailed pictures or measurements let me know and I will post them.

Great pics. That's helpful within it's self.
-
Those aren't LP640 mirrors either, darn!
-
A mirror thread is an awesome add so thanks for starting this Pedro. The OEM mirrors are totally different than what comes with the G28 bodies. Both the size and fit of the OEM mirrors differs enough that they really are not an option for the G24 or G28 builders. If I was building an OEM exact car, with original shaped and sized doors, this would be a no brainer and using the OEM mirrors would be the way to go. It's money (a lot of it) well spent since the side mirrors can be a royal pain to deal with and for the G28 builders they can be one of the hardest smaller parts on the car to finish correctly.

Those turned out nicely with the dipped carbon fiber.

Does anyone have diagrams that show how the OEM mirrors are put together? I want to disassemble mine and make some molds. Thanks guys!
-
Here's a little project I have been working on and I hope the pictures help some of you that are working on your mirrors.
-
Folding Mechanism
-
I also started molding the base of the mirrors.
-
Mirror bases
-
So you are actually casting the parts? Is that a filler base or a urethane base product?
-
Yes I am casting them and the product that I am using is a Polymer Urethane Casting Resin.
-
Nice! Wonder how much a set would run :P
-
Are you using any glass beads as part of the filler or straight product?
-
Looks great Auto! Nice job with the molds and the final product!
-
You are a pro for sure. I have some of Pedro's work and it's all outstanding quality.
-
Thanks a bunch guys!
Once I finish molding all the pieces I will let you know Talon.
-
Good Grief! You my friend are a true master! :drool

Don't we all! I have a nice set of fixed mirrors, but I'm sure that seeing all the work that they won't be in my price bracket. Nice work!

@Purple - Robert - Dratts
Thanks guys!
@ AdrianBurton
I'll make a set for you, it will probably be another month before I get to mold the other base and the mirror part. I also have a friend working on cutting the mirrors for these same size and shape as OEM.
-
and I I finished the new mirrors ::beers
-
Boy those look great Marek!
-
What motors are you using?
-
Oh my god! My car is not worthy. I want a pair too. Things like this inspire me to get back to improving my build. In my experience they are never done.
-

I have the OEM motors on mine. I can post more pictures of the motors if that will help you find an alternative.

100% agree, I don't think they are ever finished!
-
Finished one of the mirror shells today, I can't take it completely out untill it hardens so I will do it tomorrow.

Now that I know how to mold them the other two parts should go faster.
-
Wow, it looks fantastic Pedro! You are getting good! :)
-
Absolutely Fantastic!!! Those look great!!! ::beers

How much for a pair of those mirrors?
-
How much for a pair of those mirrors?
I'm thinking around $350.00 for the pair.
Thanks Puprle and Pines
-
Is it going to include the entire fold in assemble too? Also can I have a lamboclone member discount? LOL LOL
-
I don't think that price is going to include the folding assembly - just the shells. I think $350 *IS* the lamboclone discount! The material to make these is quite expensive.
-
Dang Pines you ain't making it easier
-
Is it going to include the entire fold in assemble too? Also can I have a lamboclone member discount? LOL LOL
Nope, it won't include the folding mechanism at this time. If there enough interest in the mechanisms then I can make them also.
-
What would the entire set cost of it has positive overwhelming intrest?
-
What would the entire set cost of it has positive overwhelming intrest?
That's hard to answer right now. I really haven't taken the folding mechanism completely apart to see how many pieces it has but it seems like 4 major components. Even if I did cast all those pieces it doesn't mean that one will be able to put it together and you will have a working folding part. The folding motor in the middle of the assembly is the one that actually does the operation, if you don't have that motor then you would need to figure out something to replace it with. I guess you could go and get the guts out of another folding mirror and just use the pivot part in place of the motor.
-
That's what I would do Pedro. I'd just get the guts from another mirror of similar size. It seems doable and the easiest and cheapest route.
Sorry Jadams. ;) Pedro can set his own prices but I think he is being very reasonable given the costs involved. I'm sure you would agree.
-
I think it's a fair price but saving a couple dollars is always great.
-
I'm just looking out for my buddy. I happen to know he is nearly taking a loss on these just to help out forum members. Pedro is a good guy and we don't want to take advantage of that. I actually expected he would charge more for them. He isn't making a lot of money but he at least needs to break even. These are some of the nicest replica mirrors I have seen yet, if not the nicest.
-
The Nicest available that I've seen for sale! At an unheard of price! ::beers
-
For the G28 builders, remember that you'll need to modify OEM sized mirrors to fit your car. The triangle shaped bases are much larger on a set of OEM mirrors and you would need to either modify the bases or modify your G28 doors to accept them.
Maybe this picture will help demonstrate what I'm talking about.
Chris

looks amazing, i would 100% want to buy a set of these
just a heads up but the cadillac escalade 2003-2005 have folding mirror assemblies, i have hade them apart and im sure they can be modified to work in the mirrors your building

Pictures of the bottom.

Oh Auto they are so nice!!!!!
-
Thanks B!
-
Good God! Much Nice!!!
-
Great job Pedro!
-
Thanks Purple and Pines!
-
The tool is finally finished for the mirror glass. Hopefully I can start cutting soon! I decided to machine each one rather that use the water jet for the simple fact that the water jet will leave a frosted surface around any cut edge. Machined mirror glass will look like the OE quality.
-
That is very impressive! Amazed at what some people are capable of! Please keep us posted!!! ::wave
-
I have a couple cut. The edges will need polished to get a perfect smooth finish.
-
Those look great!!! You really do know your stuff!
-
Awesome Job Mr. Schulze!
-
Awesome job bud, can't wait to see some of these all put together.
-
Thank you my fellow Lambo Brothers!
-
Holy $#!+ sure beats the Heck out of fighting with CKI mirror housings and finding your own mirrors! You and Auto make a good team! ::beers
-
Getting ready to do the final piece and these puppies will be complete. I will finish the mold today and get some parts made in the next couple of days since I have the rest of the week off from work ::thumbup
-
Mirrors are finally done! If anyone wants a pair let me know because I would need to order more material to make them.
-
I am interested. Does it include the folding motors and the glass. Cost shipped to 83815
Thanks

Joe, these are just the mirror shells. Shipping should be about $15.00
SchulzeA is making the glass that he cuts on his machine, let me ask him for a price on those.
Thanks!
-
Glass is $100 a set shipped within the US.
-
Wow great price! Put me down for a set please!!! ::beers
-
I'll take a set of these too
-
Guys, I broke my collarbone yesterday and won't be able to get the mirrors done untill next week. I'm very sorry for the delay.
-
Wow, I'm sorry to hear that Pedro! Take care of yourself buddy.
-
Has anyone been able to confirm yet if the escalade mirror motors will work with these mirrors? Just curious if someone has already tried them or if anyone knows what will work for sure.
Thanks,
-Nick
-
I haven't tried it yet, but several gm vehicles will have the same motor assembly. So you don't have to pay a marked up price because it's for a escalade. Sierra, silverado, tahoe, yukon, suburban ect ect will have the same stuff. ;)
-
Ill be able to let you know in a few days
-
I just opened the box, they are excellent now as soon as I get the right mirrors sent out I will let you know if the caddi parts work
Pedro
GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!
-
I am very glad you liked them Adrian! I hope you find a good donor mirror for the internal parts, it will really help out everyone else.
Thanks again!

And that's exactly the way this hobby and this website should work. ::thumbup

I bought a silverado mirror for $30 and this is what the guts look like. It looks like it will work but I'll need to use something else for adjusting the power mirrors as the silverado mirror is huge. Also, I thought these would have a motor to actually fold the mirrors but they don't, I'm assuming the Escalade mirrors actually have the motors. I'll probably try an Escalade mirror next if someone can verify that they have folding motors.
-
Most new SUV have folding mirrors. Also cars too such as bmw .Acuras etc .shop around and then get aftermarket B/N for far less price.
-
Nick
I got the same ones, I just sent them back because they dont fold
-
Guess I should have said to make sure it says they have power folding option. My 06 sierra's fold in and so does my 07 suburban. So those vehicles have it available for sure. My apologies for not giving enough detail.
-
No worries, they did say powered mirrors so I assumed they had the motors. No big deal either way, i only bought the one side and it was only $30. I may also send it back if the shipping is cheap enough.
-
did anyone find a folding motor assembly for the mirrors???
-
Hey Adrian check this thread out, member CdRsKuLL http://extremeoc.co.uk/index.php?topic=359.150 (http://extremeoc.co.uk/index.php?topic=359.150) was able to make his folding. Hope this helps you guys out.
-
Guys the Japanese import mitsi gto have folding mirrors, I own one, and they mount to the door skin just make a base to suit your door shape, and some of the stealth may do also, try to get the dash loom as it contains the mirror relay box which makes life a lot easier, I am going to use these on my Countach.

I used the motors from a Toyota/Lexus Sitezza/IS300. I cut the motor and mount out of the Lexus mirror and grafted them into Pedro's mirrors. they fold back and stop when resistance is met and then do the same extending. I got them of Ebay.
I can provide a video of them moving.

-
Nice work! I just recently got a set of these mirrors from Pedro.
They are really nice. He does really great work. Thanks for the tip on the IS300 mirrors ::thumbup.
-
Awesome! Thank you very much for posting these pictures and the information of where the donor parts came from. I'm sure this will help out the other members that were looking for a good solution to this. :notworthy
-
What motors are you using for the mirror glass? Any problems with the wiring passing through the hinge area?
-
I will be using the mirror motors from the same mirrors I just haven't mounted them yet. I'll put them in after the mirrors are painted. I have the mirror glass from Schultza that fit Pedro's mirrors perfectly.
Joe Sokol
-
Can someone post up some measurements of the mirror shells? Might try my hand in making some. Thanks!
-
Here's how I did it, nothing fancy but it works.
