Title: Anyone finished an Aventador?
Post by: dwafford on April 30, 2014, 03:09:11 PM
I'm thinking of starting an Aventador build (when I finish my current project), but I'm worried about the cost of OEM parts ($6,000 for a headlight?  Are you serious?), and that I haven't yet seen much in the way of substitute parts or body kits made to accept near-identical non-OEM parts.  Anyone made it far enough on an Aventador build to have some words of wisdom on this (other than "Suck it up and pay for OEM parts," which is not a viable option for me)?  Thanks as always.

i think ikr is getting a real glass package for the aventador. I was planning to do lens forming for my headlight and taillight buckets but havent got around to that yet.

Is this you Carlos? http://www.youtube.com/user/CMFLAMBO69/videos (http://www.youtube.com/user/CMFLAMBO69/videos)

What I see there is nice but mostly just few second teaser videos. Looking forward to seeing a nice long video of the finished car.

Also, how do people get hold of you? From what I have heard nobody has been able to get hold of you to see this car in person.

I am curious to ask what a finished Aventador replica would be worth with a BMW V12 and a NAERC type chassis, done professionally.

Second question is what would it cost to build (ball park)?

Doesn't seem to be one out there finished yet.  Question is if it would cost $80,000 - $90,000 to build, would it sell for more than the build?  Does not seem like people would buy a replica for $90,000, even if it was an Aventador.  Maybe I'm wrong...  (Is there anyone else out there with an Aventador body besides Carlos?)

Would like to hear opinions.

Well the answer is no, no
One has finished an aventador besides the z and m cars that do not look accurate

Carlos you do great work but because no one has ever been able to contact you or see your body in person it will be hard to sell

Plenty of people here have seen inspire composite and his kits and he has made deliveries to forum members

Not trying to get in the middle of any disagreement

Carlos, that is a tremendous effort and I have great respect...but...the kit I see on the video for $14,500 has no opening doors or hood or trunk or jambs. Am I really still $20,000 away from having a buildable body kit after $14,500?

So you are going to come to the U.S. and set up a showroom selling a blatantly illegal product? And you are going to cross international borders to do it? That makes it a Federal matter (jail) as well as a Civil matter (only money judgments). Have you considered pursuing the child porn industry with this business model? It might be a much safer plan, just do not announce it to the world.

Probably should just let this die but thought I would throw you a lifeline. It appears that is your answer to all three questions. Would you care to clarify where you draw the line?

throw me a lifeline? you have never or will do me any favors.  your idea of risk to reward applies to everyone is that what your are saying? The guy wants to open a garage and show potential customers his completed cars to sell, that could sell for 40k and up, with little chance that hes going to get caught, same chance that you take when you sell your murcielago bodies, all 40+ of them but you want to criticize someone else for doing something similar just alittle more extreme? should have let it "die"

like i said before, no one gets anywhere without taking risks.
