Hello everyone, I need some feedback from you guys.. I need any suggestions on an engine and trans setup for my Reventon project. My donor is a 1987 fiero and I'm looking for setup that would give me anywhere between 450-500 horsepower on the wheels. So any input will help me decide on what setup is best.

A massaged LS4 would do the trick. I am planing a turbo with mine.

Plus porsche or audi trans

Do you have the body yet ? Cut the Fiero to the pieces save the floor pan
Stretch to your body wheel base get super duper new front suspension and rear . Select your power plant. Use PorsheG50 flip it. Cost could be not so bad around 7-10 Gino's to handle that power. You will need special axle shafts (strong ones) and ofcourrse good brake system. So I estimate the power plant, tranny and brakes could fetch up to 25 Big ones the way you like the 500 at wheels . Take note I'm not a expert on this ,

Thanks for feedback, I have the new suspension, frame has been stretched and body has been mounted. I like the LS4 suggestion and need the best fit transmission. I hoping I get more ideas on the setup for Reventon project. Thanks

Just use a stock ls4 and it's matching auto transmission. All as one drop in unit
Add a shot of nos when you want 400hp, 99% of your driving you'll be happy with the stock setup and most importantly it will
Be reliable

Thank you tusabes, do you think that the setup you are talking about will fit the fiero cradle?
-
Yep, it's been done several times.

They even make engine brackets if you don't want to do all your own fab work: http://www.westcoastfiero.com/engine_conversions/mounts/index.php (http://www.westcoastfiero.com/engine_conversions/mounts/index.php)

The LS4 is mated to the 4T65E HD. This is the OEM drivetrain for Impala SS, Grandprix GXP. The Grandprix uses oem paddle shift. This is a great economical powertrain. This is a front wheel drivetrain simply moved to the rear of the car.

Will this ls4 set up give you 500 at d wheels?
-
Fiero King makes engine mounts, low alternator mounts and wiring harnesses. I have a turbo on mine but it's overkill.

Dratts thank you for input but what do you mean by "overkill"?

I mean that the stock 300 hp is more than adequate My turbo kit is supposed to provide 640 hp at the crank although I haven't dynoed it yet. I only went for the turbo for giggles and to match the hp of a real Murcielago. I wouldn't say don't do it, just that you can have lots of fun with a stock one and you still have a modern aluminum V8 with the sound that goes along with it.

Hey dratts, thanks for your advice... You are probably right about 600 plus horsepower in fiero frame, if you are not racing the car in professional track than it's not really conducive. Not to mention the expenses for that setup like that. However, think that keeping it real between 400-500 horsepower is in a respectable neighborhood I'm comfortable with. You don't want to be stopped at traffic light next to Mini Cooper and the Cooper overtakes your Lambo when. The light turns green!!!!!! Lol
