Title: Anyone interested in using a 944 transmission?
Post by: aeauto on February 16, 2016, 11:22:22 AM
I have someone who says he has designed an adapter to make this work with minimal mods to the transmission.  Uses stock flywheel and clutch parts.  If I get any interest I will pursue it.  Anyone?

I recon he could be right I have one in the shed also the shifter rod went through where the clutch slave would go on a 016 so should not be that hard to adapt

Different splines.  I think 10.  He is using a Chrysler disc.  I think also Ford Ranger fits.

if you can put that together that would be great, the 944 box is stronger than the 016

It can be put together, the question is how much interest is there?  I am not going to make any parts until I have an order.  The fact that the plate is 2 1/2 inches thick might be a problem for fitting for some builders.  This design was done by someone else and I haven't seen all the details.  It may be possible to make the plate thinner but I would have to do some research on that.
