The part looks good! Did you make these from a model to CNC'd foam like your Aventador body? If so, what did you use for a model? Will these parts fit OEM body? What are your prices?

That's all for now. ;) I'd love to see pictures of the bumpers when they are done!

Does look good.  How much for that rear hatch?  Also, how long before you have the rear bumper ready?

yes, i used the same process. This time around im using a better machine, and doing a better job on part glassing. I dont know if it will fit an oem body. The kit im making this for fits a common mercy kit car, i dont know the name of it, ill have to ask him and let you guys know.

rear bumper should be done in 2 weeks. What would you pay for a kit like this? it will include the rear hatch, rear trunk face, wing and legs, rear bumper assembly, front bumper.

The G28 rear engine hatch is a few inches longer than OEM.  So unless it is cut down it will only fit a G28 and not an OEM

INSPIREcomposite, nice work man. I am a big fan of what you have been able to accomplish. You are definitely one of my heroes! I would like to talk CNC with you some time. I am definitely heading down that road at some point. I'd like to know about your new machine.

As far as the kit goes, it is funny but I have recently learned first-hand, people don't really want/need kits. It is a nice and clean idea but it doesn't really work. They usually only need individual parts. It is totally understandable that some people already have acquired some parts and others just don't want them for some reason. For instance, I am probably only going to use a front LP670 bumper and possibly a rear LP670 bumper on my build.

If you don't mind saying where your original 3D model came from, I would be very interested. The thing is, I'm not sure if it will even fit a G28 without some modifications unless it was designed for that kit that from the ground up.

Again, nice work!

I don't want to put words in his mouth but I believe his intent is to sell a lp670 conversion kit, which is smart beings there are already so many 640's out there with people wanting the missing pieces! For him to do the entire car wouldn't make a whole lot of sense beings people are starting and will lean towards the Aventador in the near future! On the other hand I'm curious to see how well this fits up to an existing OEM or G28 body! If you've comisioned this for an existing build maybe you could talk the person you are building it for to take some pics for you so you can show the fit! The rear hatch looks excellent keep up the great work!!!  ::headbang

It was styrospray1000. its a hard coat for styrofoam. I guess the hardcoat reacted with the gelcoat. Its disappointing since this is the last piece to the kit and i gotta redo it but it will get done..

You don't have to start completely over do you? Can you just sand the junk off and redo the finish on the buck? Stinks either way.

On the bright side, it could be worse. You could have ordered your parts from Rob.  ::tongue

It looks like he is cutting foam so yeah, it would be best to start over so he gets a dimensionally accurate piece.

cmarens, I hope you are joking about buying something from Rob. If you did, your money is likely gone for good and you will never see anything for it.

Always use stuff on an inconspicuous area.. Or a spare foam part.

Your not alone on the chemical destruction on parts though! Join the club!

Negative. I like his videos because they look so good. Yet again, Enron had some pretty good investment packets too! If I were gonna donate to someone, I would donate to one of you that is actually building things!  ::beers

Heads up: The "World" had nothing to do with your failure to try a test piece before you ruined your part.  It has been widely posted that you can't mix resin/gelcoat with foam although I do believe that there is a type of foam that will not react to resin.  Most posts say to paint the foam to seal it before applying layup fiberglass or gelcoat.  Hope that the next try goes better for sure.

Dog walks into a bar, orders a drink. Bartender thinks he will go along with the joke and says the drink will be $50, then mentions that they do not get many talking dogs at the bar. Dog says that he can see why at $50 a drink.

There is a foam that i use for making plugs for molds or a foam that you can fiberglass directly on to. It is a 2 part liquid. You have to make a oversize form of the part to be made or say a cardboard box. Put plastic inside the box, mix equal parts or liquid foam. quickly pour it in , you only have 40 seconds.  It expands to 30 times its size and hardens in half an hour. It can then be sanded and carved to any shape. Fiberglass  can be directly laid onto it. You can get it at fiberglass .com. It can be pricy with shipping though.    :LL:

I believe that is a closed cell urethane based foam you are speaking of?
They use it for making floats and deck blocks etc.  it is pricy but it works very well.

Front bumper is sold guys. I still have a a rear hatch i pulled a while ago just sitting around as well, gotta make some room so ill let it go for 180 + shipping.

I also do custom parts at an affordable price. I do 3D modeling work so any design can be made.  Negative styrofoam mold machining and then layup. Instead of machining plugs, making fiberglass molds, then layup. saves times and material.
