Title: Murcielago LS4
Post by: Bagnard on June 18, 2013, 04:15:22 PM
Hi everybody,

This is  the beginning of my new project.
I bought a  Murcielago built on a 1988 Fiero GT.

Here a ranking of my car 1 to 5 (5 is the best).
Body: 4
Paint: 3
Engine: 1
Interior: 2
Frame: 5
Suspension: 4
Brake system: 3

My goal is to get a 5 on everything for the next spring.

My work list is:
-LS4 engine with automatic trans. (keeping stock).
-Engine bay refresh.
-1988 Corvette brakes disc system.
-Champion's 3 row radiator.
-Paddle shifter kit.
-A new central consol look.
-Light body's repair and paint.
-Camera system.

First, i found a LS4 engine with the 4T65e HD Mn7 transmission.
In the next weeks, i'll refresh this engine before to made the swap.

Today, i'm receiving the first parts: 4 new Corvette 12'' Disc brake.
I'll get 4 new Corvette calipers to.

Hi everybody,

I need your experience for two things!!
First, I don't like the curve on my windshield and the space that it made between the frame and the door.
See the pictures.
Which windshield i can use for a perfect match?

Second, i don't like the inner door.
I would like to get an oem look inner door.
Since 2 weeks, i try to reach Carkitinc but they never answer to the phone.
Does someone can sell me a new kit of inner door that it will fit on my G24 Murcy?

Thank you.

I might be able to help you out with some LS4 info depending on what you need to know. I put a LS4 thas runs on Microsquirt and a 4t65ehd on a Magnashift stand alone with a home made wireless paddle shifters in my Diablo Roadster.

The Microsquirt/Magnashift was the easiest/least expensive thing for "me" to do on my swap. But alot will depend on how you want to do yours. Whatever you do I recommend changing out the AMF/DoD camshft and lifters with something else on the LS4. I feel the DoD is a waste of time to persue and seems to be alot of problems with the DoD lifters.

Anybody can help me with my windshield problem?

It looks to me like a roof problem not a windshield problem.  When the kit was originally built they should have followed the glass and put a slight curve in the roof.

I believe you could still cut and reshape the roof area there to make it better but it probably would never be perfect. (with all the bodywork and repaint that would involve)

That being said the car looks great to me!!

When you get ready to install the ls4 you should contact Fieroking.  He can sell you mounts and a wiring harness.  You are right about keeping it stock.  I went with the cartuning turbo kit just to match the hp of the Murci, but stock is more than adequate.

 Hi Dratts,
I thank you for the link with Fieroking.
I believe i can find him on pennock's forum?

About your turbo kit: which headers, crossover pipes and exhaust did you buy?
Do you have some pics?

Cartuning supplied everything in my turbo kit.  It was designed for a front engine car so I bought it without the air to air intercooler and we built our own air to water intercooler.  I posted some pictures on pennocks.  I haven't been able to find pictures.  Joe (Fieroking) has some pictures.

There is 3 button on top.
On the back of the switch there is a 8 pins connector.

Hello everyone.
Long ago that I have no writing here.
In recent weeks, I started work on my car.

The old V6 was removed and soon LS4 engine will be installed.
I upgraded the LS4 adding a turbo kit from Cartuning.

Here is a small list of things I have done in recent weeks.
-Installation of liquid air intercooler with ice box.
- A cooler motor oil.
- A transmission oil cooler.
- A brake kit Corvette.
- The interior of the car was gutted because everything will be refurbished.
- A Champion 3 rows radiator engine

For transmission, I installed a push button system and the paddle shift.
For the paddle shift, the original tcm is replaced by a compushift tuner that will allow the transmission as I want.

Here are some pictures.

You can see the exhaust system. It will go out in the middle of the rear car.

On the first picture, you can see two little radiator that i fit together. One for engine oïl and the other one for the transmission oïl.

Since my engine has about 640hp, transmission was strengthens with a shaft input and ouput shaft from ZZperformance.

I've been saying that I have the only turbo ls4 Murcielago in the world.  I'm going to have to amend that to The only turbo ls4 Murcielago roadster.  You can have the coupe title.  Looking good and I'm glad to have company.  I got outbid today on a Tesla model s chassis by $3,000.  I've been wanting to do an electric Aventador.  Probably lucky I got outbid on this particular one.

But when I saw your turbo kit that inspired me and especially reassured.

I like your electric car project.

where is your wastegate? are you going to just run those small breather/filters off your valve covers and no oil recovery tank?

If you look at the last picture you will see the wastegate at the end of the downpipe.
Do you think those breathers won't be enough?

I didnt see a pick of your chassis. What you got to hold the body together that engine looks like it could twist a body pretty easy.  Curious what you going to use for a transmission also for it?

The input and output shaft have been changed.

I foresee some problems with your wastegate location depending on how much boost your running. More than likely you will get a puff of smoke coming off the throttle plus some oil eventually comming out of those filters. Your engine will have crankcase ventilation problems.

Your setup looks really nice but I would consult with some other boost minded people on just a few things. Me personally, your wastegate is a little too far away but its hard to judge from the pics. Also from the looks of the position you FPR its real close to the alt, could be some concearn.
 Boost away~~~~
BTW- are your running a air/air or air/water intercooler?

I'm running a air/liquid intercooler with radiator + ice box. You can see the pictures on previous page.
I know you want to help me but the turbo kit coming from cartuning.ca and they sold over 100 kits to LS4 owner's. The wastegate is always located at this place for this kit and nobody ever reported a problem.

I have the same set up and it has been flawless.  They aren't in Ca. though unless they have relocated from Canada.  My only problem has been input shafts.  The input shaft is a weak point even on a stock ls4.
