Hi. I’m a new member on this forum but not new to the homebuilt car hobby. I’m nearing completion on a home/scratch built 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO that has a build diary posted here:
GTO build thread (http://www.madmechanics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19716)
I’m in the investigative phase for another car project and am seeking out information from wherever possible. I’m looking into scratch building a Lamborghini Miura SV. I see a lot of information about projects on other Lamborghini models but not the Miura. So some initial questions I’m trying to answer:
- Has anyone built a Miura and is there a build diary posted anywhere?
- Does anyone have detailed Miura chassis plans with detailed measurements, etc?
- Has anyone figured out and built a transverse engine/trans/diff combo that’s in the 400 hp range? V12 preferred but V8 will also work.
- Has anyone figured out what non-Miura donor parts can be used for such a project? For example, is there a windshield or side window glass from a mass production vehicle that is close enough in shape to use in a scratch built Miura?
- Does anyone have a Miura body buck or body panel templates that could be used to confirm shape for new aluminum panels? I have the tooling and skills to shape body panels but don’t currently have the Miura shape information other than pictures.
This will be a one off project for me as I have no ambitions to “go into the kit car business”. Given this, I’m hoping to find some knowledgeable people who are willing to freely share information that would make this project feasible to do.
Thanks in advance.

Type in "Miura" in the search box and see how many hits you get. It's in the upper RH corner of the page.

the only Miura that I have seen was done by V8 Archie, and I think DC cars in the UK

The easiest thing to do is go to Google and "Google it". You will find more info than we can provide.

Good luck!

You probably already have this info but here goes:

You sure picked a huge project. Reminded me of the guy who built a Countach in his basement. (He just sold it about a year ago. His health was not good). Best wishes on the Miura.

Thanks very much for all the helpful links. I've now been through them and found a bunch of insightful information. I knew this would be a big project without knowing many of the details. The more I learn, the bigger the project appears to be. Oh well, I'm not scared off yet.
A related question. Has anyone used a 3D model from here: https://hum3d.com/3d-models/lamborgh...a-p400sv-1971/ (https://hum3d.com/3d-models/lamborgh...a-p400sv-1971/)
If so, how did you use it and did you import it into a CAD software tool?

Check out Parallel designs in the UK. My friend stopped by and met the owner last week. Accuracy
and quality of the body looks spot on for a P400 S.
