Is 2950 lbs. Your anticipated weight?  My Fiero framed version with Held suspension, 13" brakes and 20" tires, and LS4 drivetrain weighs in at 3400 lbs.  Are you going to have a price on a turnkey?

Not only is it ok to put down someone elses work if there is a problem with it, I think that there is a moral imperative to do so and protect other builders.  Please don't anyone here think that it's not ok.  Just make sure that your put down if you have one is factual.

It's ok to put down someone's work?
That's not the same thing as constructive criticism...

Post by: dratts on July 22, 2012, 10:27:37 AM
"If" there is something wrong.  Not just putting someones work down when there's nothing wrong.  If I bought defective product etc. I would want other builders to be warned and I would want other builders to warn me too.  We do it all the time and it's one of the benefits of our forums.  I try to be constructive with my posts.  I prefer not to go negative.  I just don't agree with the entire part of IKRs post at the bottom.  It bothers me every time I see it because it seems to say we don't have the right to criticize and I think that criticism is very important in our hobby.

Your not following what he is saying. He is saying don't knock what is being done by saying "it looks like crap", or "mans got no skills, etc".

He's not saying not to be critical, just don't be a doosh about it.

I didn't criticize your work.  Just the statement that you put at the bottom saying to keep my mouth shut if I can't say something good.  You know what I thought of your parts from before and I don't want to bring it up again.  I liked the door cards I got from you and most of the upper part of your dash.

moving  alone  Lambo_Sam                      2 ENGINE SWAPS NEXT on the 13" stretched chassis,s

I agree with this for the most part ,NAERC Replica chassis has 3-4 more inches in the foot well area it longer an the fire wall is straight up not angled like the fiero so like i said 3-4" where your feet fit but the dash is closer to you an cause problems for tall people getting in an out ,i am 6'-2" 202lbs i have no problems getting in an out of the fiero , i do have to let the column all the way up before i get out of my reg fiero so for anyone over 6' tall change the column to a GM cavalier tilt ( what NAERC USED or now the new option from MM THE Sebring column ) it make the interior look better anyway. On a personal note i like the fiero because the fuse panel & wiring, brake line pluming, master cyl. ,porpotion vavles , the a/c system , radiators ,gas tank an lines

GM did not want to build a car that would or could compete with their FLAG SHIP "CORVETTE" an this was a HOT TOPIC at GM so a 90hp 4cyl or a 140HP V6 , THE SUSP. came from cheap econo fuel savers from the 70,s an yes stretching a fiero even in stock form will help cool the front side of the engine ,get heat off the firewall , plus increasing the wheelbase is better for cornering or i guess i should say turnning in curves ,setting up a good pair of swaybars would make this thing feel like its on rails (front & rear )

All good points from IKR! People FORGET about ALL the additional work required for a tube chassis.

I have a curiosity question... When building a car why do so many builders choose to go with a Fiero frame? It seems to me that the replica chassis out there are far more superior and newer... Is it because of cost? Or other issues also?
Title: Re: Orange Roadster LP700-4U version ....Turnkey

Most early Diablo and Murcielago kits were designed to fit on the Fiero chassis. I dont think there's anything wrong with using a donor, whether its a Fiero, MR2, Boxster or whatever. Using a donor is usually cheaper, faster, and easier to register. It all depends what you're looking for.

Post by: Tallon on October 12, 2012, 07:27:46 AM
psst... cheaper would mean buying more expensive parts for the tube chassis and not the donor. All depends.
and not everyone can find a really nice fiero for a few hundred dollars.

The fiero allowed people to put a kit body on a running driving chassis for the cost if the fiero ($1-2000) and a stretch $(1-2000).  Buying a custom chassis , drivetrain etc costs much more.

Of course this cost savings only applies if you use the stock fiero engine , suspension interior etc.  Once you start changing those , the cost savings diminishes
For the people changing the interior, engine etc it makes less sense to use a fiero

we are trying to get it right an have the most complete package on this side of the pond.

I will be building my own dash etc, centre console, the works. So the unit you have in the pic looks perfect. Just wanted size so that I know what I am looking at. I read your pm, thanks for that. I am interested but have no knowledge of this kind of thing. I learn as I go on. My engine is an Audi Rs 4 4.2 litre with wiring harness and ecu's. Not sure how the hookup works. The setup really looks stunning

Hi IKR,
Just wanted to clear up a thing or two. You say it is analogue and not electronic. Sorry for my ignorance, I have as you know the RS4 engine with 01E gearbox. Complete RS4 wiring harness. This would mean I have need for electronic setup right? Or could I still use the analogue way. Sorry I have no knowledge of this.

I realize the tacho would most probably run from the coils right?

The Aventador has all analog (needle) guages with a digital (display) information center. If the set-up that you have now has needle guages, they can be reconfigured to fit behind any guage face art. You would then have to figure out what you want to do in the information screen area, and install a digital speedometer in the tachometer face.

Those guages will work as long as they are compatible. They should be if they are from the same model car your engine/computer came from. You will still need to find a digital speedometer though, Summit Racing sells them.

No, because the vent glass is curved at the bottom ,i decided it would follow the contour better with it closed in the mold  ,other kits makers just put a flat piece here ,which is wrong , attention to detail. This is a master plug so i cleaned out the window area,s for a more realistic effect of how the parts will look. THANK you FOR POINTING this OUT or at least getting others an yourself to see small details.

Update real soon ,we had a major set back .... sculptor decides to start his own business after we paid for 90% of the plug ,oversea,s, when it made it to the final stages of completion , with it being so far away we had no course of action to rectify the situation . We had to buy a good 3d file to make the door jam/sill plates and scoops , we had to spend money on these parts twice . Be careful Oversea,s they know you are not going to travel the distance to collect what is yours. One of my co-workers died from cancer 2 weeks ago ,we been on overtime for 5 weeks as soon as i can i will clear up all my deals , i need some shop time ,i was off 1 day so i started on the IKR ReAction body ...sold one and have a possible customer in Argentina looking ..... All the black fiberglass SuperBass Roadster parts on this thread are here in the USA ...Houston , we are body working all the parts and doing final clean up for the new Molds , in 6-8 weeks we will have new photo,s of the SuperBass , 4fifty8 , Modified Reventon ReAction .....  BACK ON TRACK !!!

the F70-Concept is also being cut in a few weeks .....well 5 weeks it will be started

I'll be interested to know the price for a body kit when you're finished.  How close would it come to fitting on the NAERC Diablo tubular chassis?

we will show it in 3 weeks or less , your chassis will be about 2 1/2" to short to fit the 106.3 wheelbase

You can always adjust the suspension mounting location to match the wheelbase.
Title: Re: Orange SuperBass Roadster LP700-4U
Post by: Digibeam on January 29, 2014, 02:58:49 PM
but is it just the wheel base that has shifted? or has the whole car been lengthened?

for example, moving the rear A arms back on the frame 2" or so isnt difficult and there is room for sure, but the upper frame area has mount areas or physical attributes that should also be relocated?  will the rear section of the frame also be 2" too short?  or should the rear section of the NAERC frame be lengthened at a specific area (possibly behind the firewall) to account for the extension?
Title: Re: Orange SuperBass Roadster LP700-4U
Post by: autopro on January 29, 2014, 03:29:31 PM
You could do it either way by making the rear section two inches longer or re-locating the suspension mounting locations.  If you only move the suspension I can see you having to add additional support for the suspension mounts.

Another thing you would need to modify is the suspension arm lengths to match your wheel offset and new wheel track.
Title: Re: Orange SuperBass Roadster LP700-4U
Post by: Digibeam on January 29, 2014, 03:47:34 PM
I am curious as to where the extra length comes into play on the new body, this will dictate what has to be done on a frame to make it suitable for the new body to mount properly.

shifting rear suspension is more than just weld the tabs down a few inches, the frame was designed also for the upper mounting of the springs/shocks and, the triangulation of the frame is optimised for these mounting locations...shifting the lower areas without also addressing the upper areas will lead to a stressed structure or suspension misalignment.
maybe i am reading into it a bit deep, but i feel building a tube chassis, there is not much room for error, it is designed to self support and once you take something and alter its intended use...its anyones guess.
not to create stress or downplay the new body, i am just as interested in this as anyone, but again, this is just my opinion.

Has the size of the passenger compartment increased to match the longer wheel base? Moving your suspension back a few inches is very acceptable. If some one is concerned about structual intregrity, add an Asgard force field, or thicker tube, and maybe a few gussets.
Title: Re: Orange SuperBass Roadster LP700-4U

You could do a 2-D overlay of your chassis/Murcie on a same scale Aventador body.  Compare the steering wheel location to the centerline of the front wheels and you should come up with where the additional inches were added.  Maybe it was split, adding a little to the front axle and a little to the rear etc.  If I were puting a V-12 in, I would add the 2" at the firewall.

(Asgard force field??  I was thinking of room for twin flux capacitors)

Title: Re: Orange SuperBass Roadster LP700-4U

maybe while we are at it add a few layers of unobtainium and a pail of spangle?
then we could sit down and think about the actual force that is exerted on a tube frame and mount points in a mid/rear engine vehicle taking a curve at 50mph?  its all fun and games till someone makes a mistake...  just saying...

is there a "Single" picture that shows all the parts of the car so far in one spot?
not photoshop version... an actual picture, all the parts on the floor...
i would like to see everything as far as it has come, because i wouldnt mind investing in this if it is complete, but i only see random images that have been cut away or modified.
thats what i would like to see... :)

i remember asking you that same question about yours ,Believe me we have it !! All exterior is done ,we may modify a couple of pieces to fit better around the fiero chassis ,still have a couple of interior pieces that are not and were never done by anyone to completion = a whole center console. Posting all our ideas make other strive for better end results ,we KNOW what we have ,plus options that would make some of the members here go crazy. we stopped posting because there is no reason to compare Orange,s to Apples

I dont have a "kit" for sale...  and the areas you have asked to see pictures of are not for show and tell for the simple reason they are personally designed and fabricated, but if i am thinking of investing in a new body which is for sale such as the one you seem to be offering, i would like to see everything that i am investing in,and not have to piece together several pages of images from several forums etc. there is nothing secret about the car body, unless you are making it unlike the OEM version, and at that point i would not be interested.
there seems to be a "race" to be the "first to finish" between yourself and Rob, so, lets see who has the most parts and they will probably win the race...
i am not trying to insult by asking, i believe it is a fair request, if i am wrong then by all means accept my apologies and i will invest in someone else. no worries.

*****WHO will have the first OEM looking SuperBass Style Replica on the Road...Not those Eddie Crap kits*****

WHO WANT A FRONT ENGINE LAMBO ,REGARDLESS OF HORSE POWER !!  MID-ENGINE ONLY HERE .....  REPLICA BODY KIT MUST LOOK REALISTIC !!

Fabricating all the grill shells , seats , lights ,light covers, interior & gauge face , glass/lexan package ,Hinges .... a package that Look worth a darn & is of Quality is costly and time consuming to make,if you buy a kit that contain fiberglass only ,how will you get the rest of the pieces to finish it .....exactly you make each and everyone yourself ,when you should have purchased a package. there are money Grab Kits & Kit Packages ....the price will vary alot ,its up to the consumer to buy what he or she like or can afford.

Don,t be fooled by Plug kits, when you cut OPEN the hood ,engine cover, trunk, doors etc. there is noting behind them , no door jam, trunk jam, engine cover jam ,JUST A big opening ..... build that ,the EDDIE kit came in made $80-100 Thousand dollars ,then left ,WHY because it,s missing most of the real fiberglass parts required to build a drive able car.Wait until Feb or March 2015 ....WHEN THE REAL KITS SHOW UP as Packages.

We have the Fake engine cover set ,to match the Body Kit !!
IKR SuperBass Neno Roadster Starts Feb - 2015            SuperBass Roadster Econo Body ........ SuperBass Roadster Regular Body

the skill set requires more work the interior is also more detailed ,both exteriors are 90% accurate from appearance ,the 10% difference is built around donor chassis to body fitment and cost effective components like glass ,light and lens covers, hinges, latches ,grills & vents. time invested in finding suitable components make the replica build able. buying a 6000.00 fiberglass kit with no idea or information ,on how to install/mount the body onto your donor ,or what,s needed to complete it, that Would Not be my first choice.
