I'd recommend using cobalt bits. A bit more expensive, but they pay for themselves many times over.

I do have a drill sharpener, but I won't recommend it as the results aren't as good as I would have expected... of course that might be a result of operator error.

Is anyone using a drill bit sharpener that they would recommend? Can't tell you how much I have spent on drill bits. Spent $16 on 3/8" metal drill bit yesterday and wouldn't even drill one hole. Must have hundreds of dollars of dull bits.
