If not going with an mr2 or fiero then not sure what car will have everything you need but buy a bmw 750iL for a v12 cheap!
not to say that the whole project will be cheap I don't know, requires fwd audi trans

You can use a corvette or camaro engine/trans with a v-drive setup. But It's going to be a lot more work to get set up right

Any front wheel drive engine/transmission combination could be used.  If you use the engine and transmission from the same car the ECU should work too.  Most front wheel drives are transverse as are the Fiero and MR2.  If you want longitudinal you could look at the Chrysler Concorde and other models with that same drivetrain.  Another, more expensive, option would be the Audi.  They are also longitudinal but you will have to find one that is front wheel drive only.  If you go longitudinal with a manual shift transmission you won't have to worry about the ECU operating the transmission and you can use any engine you want that you can adapt to the transmission.  I make adapters for a wide variety of engines to the Audi and Porsche transmissions.

I have a custom tube chassis... what do you guys recommend...it would be great to be able to simply purchase a donor car and utilize engine tranny ecu harness....from that car.
