@ Neils

Wow great job on those, I love the way they open on the Aventador.  I can see you have gotten quite a bit done, keep at it!  ::salute

@ Mike

I put bolts through the top of the wing and then did a bead of SEM 39337 structural adhesive between the wing and the uprights.  Don't know if the adhesive was necessary as the bolts do most of the work but it can't hurt I guess.  ::scratch

Nice work Guys!
Pedro, what did you use to bond the fiberglass wing to the aluminum struts?

I just finished the active vents on my Aventador build this week as well.  It's a great feeling watching them function properly  :)  A video can be found here:

Great job on your build!

Here are some progress pics from this past week.  I'm using 2" actuators to control my batwings and they worked out well, here are the brackets I made to attach the actuators to the batwings.

I also started doing body work on small parts in order to get them in primer.  I really can't wait to see this car in all one single color, even if it's primer  :-\

The wing got bonded to the uprights and the holes I had drilled on top for the screws got filled, no taking this apart again.

This is how I did the inner door frames so that they would be stronger and not flex as much.

I bonded them in using Duraglas after roughing up the metal and the fiberglass of the door shell.  After I did this I could really tell that the door became more rigid.

After it dried I followed it up with a couple layers of fiberglass on top and over it, don't know if this steps helps any but I'm sure it won't hurt.  Now my doors are super solid from the door jamb to the door strike.

Here's a couple more pics of the dash and the stereo that I  am installing.  I still have a bit of fitting to do for the stereo but I almost have it.  I'm reusing all the original parts from the Passat, even the A/C controls.

I've been doing a bit of work to my interior and trying to get my dash fitted.   I used the instrument cluster from my Passat and fitted it to the gauge pod.  It fit well al I will only need to fill a couple areas on it.

Even multi-colored, it's a beautiful car! You must be thrilled to get to drive it.   :)  Makes me want to hurry up and get the panels installed on my Aventador build.

You should hurry up, it's a huge motivator to getting it done when you see it all put together.  Hopefully it won't stay multi-colored for long, as soon as I finish doing the work on the doors and bonding those to the inner part I will start doing body work on it.   Want to get it in primer soon so it's at least one solid color.  It was a blast to drive, even if I only drove it around the neighborhood.    ::salute

Bad a$$! You've gotta do satin black as well!

Thanks Jay!  I've actually considered doing a flat color but I'm just afraid of the maintenance and being able to repair the paint if it ever got damaged.  Besides I would need a really good spray booth with very good filters in order to paint it in.  ::scratch

I'm so jealous right now, lol.  I'd stick with silver and black, it's going to look amazing.

Jaja don't be jealous your car will be there soon, just keep working on it.  I'm painting it what Lamborghini calls Grigio Telesto which is the gray color that I painted my truck earlier in the thread. ::wave

I think he said he is using That medium grey from his Datsun truck , with black accents in the rear wing etc will look fantastic !!

That's right George, I'm glad you like the color and the black accents  ::toothy.  That is exactly how I will be doing it.  I took inspiration from this:

Looks fantastic Pedro, very nice!  I can only imagine how excited you are to get to this point, you are paving a great path.

Thanks brother!  Yeah I'm pretty excited and glad to be almost to the finish line with this project.  Can't wait to see you start on your own soon  ::thumbup

Congrats Pedro! You have done a fantastic job. You have certainly come along way from that pile of tubes on the chassis table.
Top notch work, Cant wait to see you get some color on it!  ::thumbup ::beers

LOL pile of tubes is right, I can still remember when they dropped off that first order of metal I made.  I just couldn't imagine how I would ever finish this project.  I know yours will be at this stage soon brother, we just have to keep at it to get them done.  ::beers

Thanks to all of you for the kind word guys  ::headbang
