G28 - Simple Mans, Simple REDO of an G28 LP640

Back at it after the holiday of eating/drinking to much, and tolerating certain family members 

The drivers Arruat bracket and rotor came back and was machined the same as the now working passenger side.

Well The drivers is more out of wack than the passenger side.

The upper area has clearance the lower is still off and rubbing.  After screwing around with it for a couple of hours, I've come to the conclusion that the  caliper holes in the bracket,  will have to be redone about a 1/32 to 1/16 of an inch.   


If any body has seen this before and has a solution ......

The calipers on the rear of the fiero sit opposite to the Murcielago placement.  the standard Arruat rear brackets follow the fiero location.

New V2 bracket put the caliper more inline with the Murcielago..... although the 4 piston caliper is small.

The rear bracket has to be machined a bit more to correct the rubbing issue.

It nice when you have parts custom made that fit !!!     Other wise its a  PITA!!

Sweet!! just in time for the weekend my extended heat treated chromoly 300 axles arrived today!!

Initial quickie measurement on the right axle would make one believe it was done correctly ..... but the proof is in the pudding!!

After a couple of trips to the machinist to correct the Arraut Motorsport wonderful product     The front wheel can actually turn now with the tire mounted!!!

The drivers side is next and that will be back tomorrow, since it is known what has to be done to the system for it to actually work!

To get more room by the side of your handbrake lever , you may want to consider mounting the seats in the OE orientation which is inwards at the front and not parallel to each other.
There is also an angle to the steering column , but that may be a step too far...

Thanks String! that is a great idea, wouldn't have to be that much and not really noticeable.   A simple solution for a Simple REDO

Got the switches for the REDO on the steering column.  Besides having drops of resin and paint over spray, the car must have been in the sun/weather as they were really rough and beat to hell. 

The pictures dont really show how bad they are!

Probably wise to use the old ones until this build closer to being competed

Made a cardboard template for my rear wheel wells.  Used 1/8 inch ABS.  Will have some adjustments to make once the rear end is in. but close for now.

One side of V2 was installed and all the V1 issues are still there.  Richard stated he QC'd them, I asked if he mounted a tire to the setup, he stated he did not.  I said you didnt test them correctly the mounted tire holds the rotor to the hub... oh well

A couple of issues with the Caliper bracket

1. The tapped holes are just slightly to far toward the center and therefore the caliper is to far in when mounted.  This causes the caliper to rub the outside edge of the rotor.

2. The Rotor is not centered in the caliper/brake pads. . There is no adjustment in that direction.

My machine shop friend will take .030 off the diameter of the rotor. The caliper mounting bracket will be reduced by 1/16 of an inch in the area where the caliper is bolted and on once side of the bracket only.

This will be done on one rotor and bracket and tested out before the other side of the front end is done.

Haven't even tested the brackets for the rear.... but I'm sure they are okay, right?

Got Version 2 (V2) of the Arruat Motorsport Suspension today,  I pray to the old gods and the new gods, that there will be no V3.   Its the front drop spindles that are the biggest concern,  They said the QC'd them with the Caliper I sent them... so who knows.....
