My new (used) 4T60 transmission arrived today! I've never seen one in person out of a car, I'm surprised how small (but heavy) they are! I gave it a quick cleaning with my pressure washer, I'll have to get some good degreaser and aluminum brightener to get it sparkling though.
I didn't realize that the trans takes two different types of tripots, a male ended one that inserts on the passenger side of the trans, and a female ended one that fits in the driver's side. I still need to take a few measurements of the TH125 that's in my car now and compare it to the 4T60 to see if I can use my same axles.
My engine is scheduled to arrive some time Monday the 17th, and my new camshaft and timing set should arrive a few days later.

I've been doing a lot of researching, studying, and even taking some online classes about sound dynamics. For many many years people have been trying to get their builds to sound like a Lamborghini, even with engine swaps, 180 degree headers and so on. I have heard many people on these forums say its impossible because of "dual plane VS. flat plane" engines, lower reciprocating mass, shorter stroke, valve size and so on.
I have said all along it has very little to do with the engine, and everything to do with manipulating and multiplying the sound pulses, eliminating some and amplifying others.
I have chose this engine because I believe it will be the easiest to accomplish a high "F1" exhaust note from. Although the sound can be replicated by any engine (4 cylinder minimum), this engine will do it easily/cheaply and also yield more H.P. than most other 6 cylinder swap options.
You're gonna have to come out and do another video when its done lol!

The Megasquirt ECU I am using will not control a 4 wire IAC that is in the LS throttle body. Since a 2 wire IAC is not made that will fit the throttle body, I will close off that port and use an inline Porsche IAC that is 2 wire. There is an additional vacuum port on the LZ4 manifold that I will use as an attachment point to hook the Porsche IAC into.

I ordered my 4T60 (440-T4) today, I'm happy I was able to find one. I wanted the 4T60 because it is not electronically controlled and has a TV cable that will attach to the LZ9 engine the same way the TH125C attaches to the stock 2.8L engine and controls the shift points manually.
I went to the junkyard and got an LS 75mm throttle body I will be using, its non electronic as well and will hook-up to the Fiero throttle cable. I also picked up an upper intake manifold from an LZ4 (3500) engine, it has much better flow than the stock LZ9 intake and doesn't have the variable flow louvers inside which I think is unnecessary.

So it's time for an engine swap with my build as well, so I've decided to go with the LZ9 3900 engine with a 4T60 (non "E") transmission.  I've been posting over on the Fiero forum and have been told to use the Megasquirt mini pro 3 ECU to control the engine, but thought I would ask here if any of you guys have experience with this ECU and can offer any guidance on how I should go about this. Thank you all in advance!!
