Two tone paint question

How ever since you don’t use it everyday as some shop
What would it be cheaper for small job
15$ semi gloss can or may clear package ?
I’m not sure if you can buy just a quart pkg?
Or whole gallon pkg. and it’s not cheap.
On other note you can get aftermarket additive to kill the sheen
But truthfully I never tried

question:  Wouldn't a satin clear give the same result?

Neil too late  lol, whole  car is wired , lights, switches, etc all test and pre fit. only I left was  wiper motor I thought it'll be ez later on. was I ever  wrong . getting to old I guess

Eddie...maybe I should wire your car in exchange for you painting mine... 

I wish I had a full paint booth. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until we get our new house built for me to have a dedicated space for painting. And that is on hold due to the pandemic. I'll have to make do with what I have for now.

funny I just did a bumper B/C W/B and one small part flat . again  flat rate hack . that part was sprayed  with water base, then to get that flat look I use lacquer spray to protect the base and 3-4 coats its flat and fast, now to do next  job .but large panels or multi section use PPG mat gloss

some times when I paint BMW bumpers two tone that bottom part is flat, I clear both colors then I'll take scuff paste and white pad rub the clear get that semi gloss, but that's flat rate cheat , since we use Water base only you can't leave unprotected base, on solvent  base back then we add about 10-15% clear hardner and that was ok  too

Thanks Eddie. I wasn't sure if there was a better process that minimized the interface between the two.

I'll likely use a single stage satin black, then a base/ clear white.

 i would first spray the part with semi gloss trim black day two after tape off the black and go white B/C

Here's a quick paint question...

I have a body panel (Aventador rear engine hood) that is going to require a two tone paint job. The main paint will be a gloss white and the inset portion will be a satin black. In a perfect world, the inset piece would be removed and the two parts painted separately. But, of course, the hood is a single fiberglass piece.

What is the best way to paint this, since I don't believe I can use the same clear coat and achieve a gloss white and a satin black?
