I was liking the idea of using strips because I could temporarily attach the lens then fabricate the mounts for the headlights.  I'll just wait to mount the headlights until I've finished building them though.  Then I can attach the lens with urethane and mount them so the lens will definitely be flush with the fenders.

If you are bonding the lenses to the buckets I would just use the windshield urethane.

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but how hard should the rubber be for this? Would 40 Shore A work or should I go softer?  Is there something specific that you use for this or do you just buy a sheet of rubber material and cut it into strips?

just bond rubber strips to the buckets and then screw the lense down to seal them

Why can't he just use a foam gasket then use wrap around clips on the edges?

if you get lenses with sides they should have a flat edge around the outer, you screw this edge it fits under the panel so you can't see any
screws, I guess it depends on what lenses you have. .

bond rubber strips to the buckets and then screw the lense down to seal them

But then you will have to drill the lenses and have visible screws on the surface of the headlight lens!

At this time are your buckets fiber-glassed to the kit or are they removable?

You have 3 parts: Bucket, Lens, Kit.  I would say bond the 2 visible Parts and the bucket should be removable.  Or, bond the lens to the bucket but allow for it to full resulting headlight to drop into place on the kit and mount.

I wouldn't bond them at all just incase you need to remove the lense for cleaning inside the head light buckets, just bond rubber strips to the buckets and then screw the lense down to seal them, it might also be a good idea to drill two small holes at the front of the buckets to let moisture out as done on OEM, see the tubes in picture.

Just wanted to know what is the best adhesive to use when bonding the headlight lenses to the car? All purpose auto weatherstripping adhesive? Or the urethane windshield bond stuff?
