I just came out of a face to face with three DHL execs. This has nothing to do with the Merci windshields but I have heard it said to never underestimate the ingenuity of an idiot. They will find the only way to screw it up every time. I am convinced now that the person who said that was the President of DHL. I got home from that and their bill for $400 has arrived in the mail for sending the crate from my shop, the address on all of the shipping documents, to God knows where. And here is the best part. At the bottom of that bill there is a survey about how they are doing and they misspelled DHL!

+1 on DHL. I've had nothing but problems with them. If they deliver at all, they are late.

I totally agree with you on DHL.  It took them 2 months to deliver 1 small part from Germany to the States.

   I have been in contact with the manufacturer twice a day for the last few weeks regarding a fiasco on Countach windshields. It is not them, it is the totally incompetent idiots at DHL. Let me make this very clear to all, DHL is the sorriest excuse for a company and the biggest bunch of absolute idiots that I have ever seen. The manufacturer has been extremely helpful in resolving this, and hopefully that resolution is only hours away, but give me just a few days so that they can stay focused on this. I agree that it is time for an update, probably even past time.

   This is just the confirmation that production has begun. From past experience on Countach windshields, it will be about four more weeks before they are ready to ship, then another four weeks on the boat, then another week or two for Customs and shipping to Texas. I will keep all posted as progress continues. All of that is assuming that Obama intervenes in the Long Beach dock strike and that is not a factor then. It has been havoc on my current Countach shipment.

UPDATE:
   I had hoped to confirm that Feb. 5th date and have waited a few days past it to be able to post the confirmation. Now it is a week past it and I still do not have absolute confirmation, but I wanted to post something before more days went by. I am not concerned about any of this, just wanted to be absolutely sure before giving the progress report, but I felt that a progress report was past due.

UPDATE:
   We have a tentative production date of Feb 5th. This is the beginning date and production and shipping will take more weeks. I have already been contacted by the Customs Broker to have the paperwork in order. Any new auto part commercially imported has to have the DOT Certification verified. This is usually a big cluster and I am pleasantly surprised that we already have it in progress.

   ...and finally gone! There have been two more deposits in the last three days and that now accounts for all who have expressed an interest. I am ordering windshields. It may take a week or two to get a ship date which I will keep everyone posted on. After that I can get an ETA for Long Beach and then it is about a week to Texas. Autopro and Bigpines, do not ask, I know what you are thinking and have already tried it to no avail. I had to ship a Countach windshield back to Anaheim.
