Then what I had was just regular glass that I had tempered. The "safety" part was throwing me off. Windshields are safety glasses and of course if one were to have any safety glass heat treated the clear plastic sandwiched between the glasses will melt resulting in obscurity. I'd still call up AGP Dustin to see what's what on that glass.

Tempered glass is just that.  When it shatters, it breaks into a thousand pieces plus or minus.  I've seen a piece of tempered glass hit with a hammer and the glass won.  I've never heard of tempering safety glass.  I think that they exchanged the glass for tempered.   Safety glass is laminated with a piece of plastic in between the two pieces of glass and if broken stays together mostly.  Put it this way: IF per chance your car gets rolled onto its top, chances are that you will NOT be able to open your doors, duh.  Try to kick a piece of tempered glass and break it.  Give me safety glass.  NOW, if you have a roadster...start digging.   Jim

Probably why his cracked but if I'm not mistaken you can have safety glass tempered. The glass I had in my hatch on my first build were safety glass intially then I took it to a local glass shop and they sent it out to get tempered. Only cost me $120 for the 3.

Plus, I think you can get door glasses for the roadster from AGP. I saw in "Tdoyle's" photobucket pics where one cracked then he replaced it. The sticker on the new glass was from AGP.

Even though I have a Diablo Roadster, I would recommend staying with the coupe. After driving around with my top off I started to get uncomfortable with everyone staring at me. These cars get so much attention that I perfer to keep the top on and the dark tinted windows up. Plus if you go somewhere you constantly worry about your car being open from the top. Also, depending where you live- the summer and winter temperatures limit your enjoyment if its too hot or too cold.
I never take my top off anymore......

Im in Texas, and with 106+ degree summer days, its nice not to have the sun frying the top of your head....

It will cost between $800 and $1,000 for the parts to do it (not including rear grills)  ...

If you want to then do it. It will be more work to convert it but then so is every aspect of these cars. Also one of the first things people will look at is the interior so it needs to be spot on, but with the parts you have this shouldn't be a problem. It will look great either way.

Nothing beats top down motoring and you don't see too many motorcycles with roofs.  LOL!

I've not seen anyone do the conversion to a coupe but it does look simple enough to do.  I would look at the cost of all the "conversion parts and time" and compare this to the cost of buying a roadster body and you might come out better with a new body and using your current body for spare parts or sell it to someone.

I just think the coupe looks more aggressive, don't like how it looks without the roof but that's just me. I like the coupe's engine bonnet better as well.
