WOW!!! That is looking very proper! I like how you added in some structural parts from the old car into the new body! Way to use your noodle! This is gonna be a great build!  :drool

Got a bunch of work done on the exhaust bonnet tonight.  I started fabricating a support frame and wing strut brackets.  I also chopped up the underside of the trunk from my Mr2 donor and recycled the stamped support frame into my structure.  I figured since the exhaust is under this panel it will be good to have some extra support to help combat possible warping. I am finally able to mount the wing on the exhaust bonnet without clamps now!  I still have a bunch of welding and fiberglass to blend and smooth things out.  Don't mind the ugly welds I ran out of gas and switched to flux core wire yuck!  Now that I have the wing strut brackets established I can finally bond and screw the wing to the struts! I also have to finish the third brake light area and cover. Then I can start on the rear bumper.

Got some more done on the back. Doesn't look like much but fitting these parts requires hours of fitting trimming adding mounting provisions then remounting and starting the whole process over. It is working out nicely though. I am pleased with the proportions compared to the oem body. Finally got most of the fitting of the struts and center panel now I am making the mounts for the stuts on the deck lid. Once that is done I can finish the wing then start on the rear bumper. ::LAMBO

So the wing struts are bonded together with 3m panel bond adhesive. I plan to go back and put a layer of glass and resin on all of the outside edges for extra strength. Before I bonded them I bent a piece of 1/4-20 threaded rod to match the curve of the bottom of the wing strut.  Then I welded three 1 1/2" long studs to it and bonded that into one side of the wing strut. Last I coated all of the edges with panel bond and clamped it all together.  I forgot to take pictures when I did this. To mount the wing I plan in drilling 1/2" holes into the top of the wing struts and bonding in the 5/16" threaded rod couplings that are shown in the pictures. for mounting the wing I plan to bond and screw the bottom half of the wing onto the struts and then bond the top of the wing on to finish it.  So the finished product will be a wing that is permanently to the struts.  I will post pictures of all of this as I go along.

Wow Mike, that's pretty amazing work there.  I love that overhead shot of the car, it looks so bad a $$.

What did you use to glue your wing uprights together and how will you be attaching them to the wing and the body?

Bonded some of the rear sv conversion parts today.  If any of you guys decide to use these parts on your cars make sure you get alot of clamps! ::thumbup

Rolling down 6-7 inches is good for a coupe . But not a roadster since they need to go fully down to have the look

How about trying an older Saturn SC coupe door ? Is it different from the ion coupe?  Might works better
