I think that we have it covered.  Throw the corvette half shaft away.  Go with the solid shaft which will mate with the Passat shaft with a little work.  Your drive shaft specialist should be able to lathe it up so that it will be straight before welding.

Jim

I didn't realize others couldn't share their ideas.

I can't remember, but you have to use different type of welding on those shafts. my S10 the shafts are hardern steel and audi not . Jim Dinner knows what the shop used . not just mig it.

Get a pair of passat cv shafts and steel c4 half shafts or drive shafts that share the same U-joint. cut off both ends you don't need. Then have your machine shop make a hardened steel bushing that fits inside of the half shaft with a bored hole that fits the cv shaft. Adjust and cut lengths to obtain the correct overall length, then fire up the miller.... The bushing should be really cheap.

I was looking in to how I'd get my cv axles made and I was quoted $1200
from driveshaftshop. I need axles for a passat trans to c4 vette hubs, is this a fair price or would I be better off welding my own?
It is more than I expected.
