Wow....

I was just there last month and it was flooded, about 3 or so inch of water and man it was like a mirror...... Talk about blazing bright. I took my rental few feet off the road and was sinking. I was told uhmmmm warned that if I get stuck in the salt bed it would cost me in-excess of $800 to have someone pull me out (lol but I had to go on that gorges salt even if it was few feet off the road. I will post pic later.... If you have not gone there, it is a site to see, By the way just across form there you are into Nevada and casinos (not the best) but you still have cheep rooms (on weekdays) and buffets......

All I can say is I loved it there.... Isn't Mother Nature AWESOME...

Being this my rookie time at the salt, my son and I tried to do our homework so that we wouldn't look like rookies but the immense viewing area left us in awe.  We set up our tent at the 3 mile marker.  This means that you are now 3.5 miles from the start line.  You cannot see the cars start.  You definitely know when they are coming though.  What a rush and the sound when they approach and go by.  Speaking of going by, they are over a quarter of a mile away from you if they are running on the closest track to you.  They were running 4 tracks so the farthest track was over a mile away from us.  The sun off of the salt makes it impossible to see the view finder on the video camera.  (Smart photographers had a towel over their heads to correct this problem)  I didn't realize why until after we left.  Maybe next time.  Jim

Awesome!

Be careful of "salt fever" or you'll be building the Diablo for 300 MPH.  :)

I must have made a wrong turn and ended up here.  Now how do I get back home.  It's a "Bucket List" thingy.  Great time on the salt.   ::bounce ::thumbup ::headbang ::LAMBO
