OK, USMC, try this diagram for the wiring.  This is for a Grand Prix 2005 Vin#1.  This schematic came from Autozone's website.  All you have to do is register, Log On, click on Vehicle Repair Guides, Wiring Diagrams, scroll down to Starting & Charging Systems (year) and the diagrams will load.  ::thumbup

If you have a CS130 alternator the L terminal should go to a charge light on your dash.
One side of this bulb is connected to switched/Ignition 12V+ and the other side of the bulb is connected to the L terminal.

Ok I see it now.... I think I have it figured out. I went to o'reilly's and we pulled the same alternator off the shelf and ordered a matching plug for it. In the picture the plug only has 1 wire coming out which should hook up to the same wire that was on the wrong plug ::study...

Fingers crossed  ::counfused I will update tomorrow when it comes in and I test it! Thanks for all the comments and help  ::rocker

Look at the plug.  See the "S-F-L-P" on it?  What year is the engine?  What year is the wiring loom?  What year is the alternator?  Thanks

You can hook this up without a computer simply by using an alternator charge light.

IM not sure, how would I tell?

If i need to buy another alternator that matches the plug thats fine, I just don't know if they mount different since I have a low alternator bracket.

Red - To the PCM

Orange - Optional, but I have been hooking them up anyways - Run to unswitched +12v. I tie it to where I get power from the power distribution post to supply to the PCM. I have both the S2 PCM and the alternator on a 10A fuse. People think I miswired the plug if there is only the red wire to it.

Gray - Used by some PCMs to know the alternator is turning and how much power the alternator is putting out. Not used with the standard Series 2 PCM swap.
The orange wire is a battery voltage sense wire. The battery sense wire would be needed if there was a significant voltage drop between the battery and the alternator. You might want to keep it if you have a remote battery, however it is not required.

Alternator Question

My car isnt charging and I remember when I installed the wiring harness on the 3800 that the alternator plug is different and wont plug into this alternator. The plug I have has 3 connectors and the alternator has 4. I fond the correct plug I think but can somebody please tell me what wire needs to be hot from the key to get the alternator to charge?

This is the alternator that I have and this is the plug I need I believe...
