And another big thanks goes out to usmc_butler for saving me $80.00. You are one of the reasons this forum is so great  ::beers. He posted the measurements to the license plate light boxes that fit in the rear center grill on his build thread.   Today I had a short day so I decided to make one.

Drew up a template but decided to modify it a little bit, the lines in red are additional to the original bracket.



Cut it out and glue it to a piece of sheet metal.



Cut it out.



Bend it in your trusty metal brake



Here it is all bent and the light fitted.   I still have to weld the seams and paint it but it fit very well.   If anyone need the template let me know and I will send you a PDF of it.

Here is one of the calipers all put together with new seals and hardware.






I was also playing with these caliper covers but I don't know if I am going to use them yet.

 As long as they fint inside your rims, they are OK. The only "problem" of using shortened wheel hubs is that they will be stronger than the NAERC ones! ::thumbup

 PS: The outer side of the wheel hub (shown on the right side on the drawing above) must be much thicker. I suggest that you either use double thicker plate or combine two ones welded together.
 

Thanks for the suggestions, I am finally re-doing them this week.  I will be making them with the new dimensions on the one shown on the left side above.  They do have another plate that attaches to the back of the face so you are correct in doubling up on them  ::thumbup

Since daywilm (on another forum) warned me about the wheel offset on the Murcielago I finally finished checking all my measurements this past weekend.  The NAERC wheel track is different than that of the Murcielago so modifications need to be made to the front and rear suspension.

The front has to come in 5cm. (2 inches) and the rear has to come in 7cm. (2-3/4").  Daywilm said he took the rear difference from the hubs and this is what I am also planning to do.  Here is a sketch to show the differences in the hubs.  The one on the left is the modified one and the one on the right is the original NAERC size, does anybody see a problem with this?  I still don’t know how I am going to take out the extra inch on each side of the front so any suggestions are welcome.

Where do you folks buy your tube stock (1/2" etc) as well as 2" square, etc.
What type / quality steel does it need to be for.proper support/welding?
You'll want to buy it local. Shipping would be extremely expensive. Try searching google or check the yellow pages.
Most steel suppliers will have the same materials. It's all cold roll steel with a smooth welded seam. You can get higher quality DOM (drawn over mandrel) that won't have the welded seam but it's not necessary.

Maybe that's why, I have OEM Murci rims and they cleared just fine, thanks for looking out eddie.

So a little paint stripper, some wire brush action and they come out pretty clean



Grind off the "Corvette" logo



And then spray with some caliper paint.

On my C 5 calipets I need to shave a bit the edge so it won't grind the rims .instal and try  rims  on before painting.

lol, the other one I am using as a mock-up for the mounting bracket on my rear suspension hub.  I need to get the caliper mounting bracket really straight before I weld it onto the hub.  Once I am done with that one I will clean it up and paint it also.  Don’t want it getting all scratched up in the meantime.  ::toothy
