After seam welding all four sides, I had a slight tin can effect.
So I drilled and counter sunk a few holes in the top and screwed it down with tapered head screws.
It worked out and pulled it down nicely.

Thanks Guys! I didn't get any work done on the car this weekend,
But I did get a little garage upgrade. I found this old workbench in my barn covered in junk
and decided it would make a nice welding table. So I had some metal plate cut for the top.
I put a piece of thin fiberglass fire blanket on top of the wood butcher block then set the 1/8" steel plate on it
and wrapped the sides in metal. I still plan on adding mounting provisions for my tubing roller and a few spots
to clip on the grounding clamp.

It's amazing you are almost scratch building all of these parts and they look just like the original parts. Good job man.

Here it is glassed up and with the wood removed.
I still need to reinforce the window flanges some and do a bunch
of body work. But all and all I am happy with it.

So this is the current project I am working on.
I started modifying this stock murcielago engine lid years ago and got so far with it and moved on to other things.
Now I am back on it since I recently got all the hardware to mount it. I started by doing some trimming to the underside to get it close to the shape.
Then I grafted on the underside pieces from a badly warped FGP 670 engine lid I got that I wasn't happy with. I used these pieces because they had all the factory mounting points. Then I made window bucks out of 3/4" plywood and covered them in package tape so the fiberglass wouldn't stick to them. This will create the window wells. Next all of the details were added with dry floral foam, which will not get distorted or melted with polyester resin. The foam can be found at any craft store. After that a whole bunch of fiberglassing..........

While I was working on the Cabin area I decided to roll some 1/2"x1/2" tube and beef up the roof tubes.
There was a small amount of flex that I didn't care for. This seemed to do the trick. ::thumbup

Another more recent project that I tackled was building the rear fire wall area.
Since my body came with the factory quarter window pockets and rear window area. It pretty much
forces you to build a new firewall in the factory location. So I decided to use this opportunity to add in some
roll over protection, god forbid I ever need it. I started by making some torque boxes and attaching them to the unibody, then started to
tube frame everything. the uprights are .120"wall and the triangulation tubes are .083 wall"

Here is a pic of the steering column cut off.
You can see on the column where I cut the bracket down to make it flat.
This was then tacked back up to the crash bar in the position that I liked.
Then I reinforced it with gussets.

I have also been playing with the interior a bit. I have been trying to mock up the dash and grab handle.
The steering wheel was to close to the driver position, so I had to cut the steering column bracket off and
move the steering column closer to the front of the car and weld up a new mount to the crash bar under the dash.
I would like it to be a little bit further forwards, but that would require cutting and re-welding the steering shaft.
I am still not sure whether or not its worth it. At most I could gain another inch of room.
